yes and no.
all the Game Gear and Master System had where altered versions of games for the SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive, thats about it, though for a few its the other way around.
either way, it was a fun console, its just a shame SEGA never went any further with it, they were mile ahead of Nintendo D: it even had a link cable for for 2 player games and a TV Receiver @_@ , but i could never get hold of those >_<

It had plenty of perfectly good original games, babe.
Sonic Triple Trouble, Shinobi GG 1 & 2, Tom & Jerry The Movie, and... Uh... Other games I can't remember right now.
The short battery-life, screen glare, inability to fit in most pants, and lack of durability were what ultimately killed it.

The Game Gear is pretty much Sega's equivalent to the original Nintendo Game Boy (only the Game Gear is in full color and features graphics that are generally more advanced than the Game Boy could deliver). However, it was not the first handheld console to be in color...the Atari Lynx was.
Actually, when Microsoft entered the gaming market Sega got out-muscled in the new console wars, so now they essentially make games for Nintendo (go figure...15 or so years ago, Sega and Nintendo hated each other's guts and now they "work together" as if it never happened). However, you do have somewhat of a point about Sega trying to overextend the life expectancies of their consoles back then *points to the craptacular 32X and Sega CD as prime examples*
For FUCK sake, the CD didn't suck that bad.
Yes, it was expensive, and the launch titles were shit, and the advertising emphasised the wrong games, but it had Sonic CD, the Lunar games, Popful Mail, Dark Wizard, Eye of the Beholder, and the Ecco ports to make up for it.
And it makes a neat CD player on a model 1 Genesis. :3

I'm referring to how much it cost Sega to develop them, they had too many expensive projects going and it cost them way too much in the end.
I have seen the Angry Video Game Nerd, but I never watched those episodes, I have however researched this alot, because I coulden't understand how Sega was beaten by Nintendo when they always seemed to have better products. But thats just it, they lost because they cost themselves too much on production.
