Being a Dragon myself, I naturally have a bit of a bias towards Dragons in literature and art.

The great Fire Drake 'Smaug the Golden' was the ultimate antagonist for J.R.R. Tolkien's book 'The Hobbit'.

Smaug (as shown in the Bass/Rankin animated film) had always impressed me with his strength and power and his lines describing the strength of his scales (like tenfold sheilds) his teeth (like swords), his claws (like spears), tail (a thunderbolt), wings (a hurricane) and breath (death), never fails to give me shivers and make me proud to be a Dragon.

Despite his evil ways, he was a mighty Drake and though he deserved the ruin that came upon him, it is a humiliating end to be struck from the skies by a single arrow.

So here is my little eulogy for Smaug. I may edit it a time or two, but if I do I will jsut upload it over the old.
