OVERVIEW
Poninks are a reserved, highly artistic species hailing from Mesoponinka. They have absolutely no contact with any canon MLP region as a species, and rarely comes in contact with outsiders. Due to some events in their history, they are inherently wary of anything outside their boarders. This also means they do not hybridize with other species of pony. However, this makes them as a whole very self sufficient.

They regard changes in seasons as sacred times, often placing holidays and special events around them. In general, the species is very artistically inclined. They can find artistic merit in just about anything, anywhere. This is just a standard, and not true for everyone.

HISTORY
Poninks are ruled by Empress Joia. Lore has it that she freed the ancient Poninks from the tyranny of the "Year Lords" and expanded the Ponink society into a grand empire. It is said that accompanying her in this epic feat were the four Ponink descendants of the Year Lords themselves, though these heroes were lost in time after a huge magical cataclysm leaving the Ponink society in shambles.

Since then, the Mesoponinkian Empire (Also known as Mesoponinkia) has been in an outstanding period of peace. They attribute this to their rigorous boarder control and magical force field keeping them safe within their rather large country. Though there seems to be some unrest, and rumor has it on the winds that the Year Lords plan to return to Mesoponinkia and reign terror over the land. If only the ancient heroes of old still walked among them...

PHYSIOLOGY
Poninks seep ink from their hooves, ears, wings, and horns. This phenomenon does not often cause trouble in their daily life, though it is dominated by the emotional state of the pony. The more emotional a pony, the more ink that will seep. This can make flight difficult as well as impede magic. Therefore, the species evolved to be primarily consistent of Earth ponies, which have fewer drawbacks as a whole. Their ink can be any color, and can come in a dazzling array of special properties. It can be washed away, though it will seep again given time. To them, it is merely a part of life and rarely do they find need to do so very often. They have long, thin legs giving them an elegant, lithe appearance and allows for running at great speeds. Thicker, more draft legs are also found in hardworking ponies, usually farming Earths. Foals do receive cutie marks just the same as the ponies of Equestria.

If one were to find the uncommon unicorn or pegasus, they are in for quite the treat. Unicorns are often very stable emotionally, as it grants fewer limits to their magic. Their tails can either fall suit of their other equine brethren or spiral out in a long, elegant tail as if plucked straight from legend. Pegasi sport huge wings and extra feathers at the base of their tails and hind legs, allowing for better flight. These feathers can be of any length, and some of the more fashion minded ponies work them into their style quite marvelously. Their splashy takeoffs have been the stuff of much excitement for small foals.

Rarer still are the other breeds of Ponink, such as Deer and Qilin. Rumor has it that somewhere deep within the reaches of Mesoponinkia there may be others even more reclusive than the rest of their species. Alicorns are limited to the ancient heroes and the Empress herself, though legends tell of winged unicorns to a lesser degree.

AVAILABILITY AND RIGHTS
Poninks are currently a CLOSED species.
This may adjust with time to something more open after the species has developed a solid foundation and has a healthy growth rate. They are a simple concept with simple lore, and can be a great tool for getting people to come together and enjoy themselves. They can also be the cause of much distress and heartache, as seen with Inky Ponies. For now, Poninks are my way to relax and enjoy building something and sharing an idea in a controlled environment.
