What exactly do you mean by Crown Crabs doing what their symbiote wants sometimes?

Uh, a lot of things, but for examples:

Don't ignore succubats trying to interact with you that's rude
Eat your Crown Crab's favorite foods now and then
Go outside and play, don't just sit around lazily
Protect bats in trouble
Get that toy your crown crab is really excited about

Oooh, I had it mixed up. When you said Crown Crabs, I thought you meant the animal, not the person they attach themselves to. My bad.

Oh yeah my bad. The host/symbiont needs to listen to the symbiote's wants and needs. (and vice versa). Otherwise you get the symbiote throwing a fit inside your mind.

Does the same go for succubats? Can either of these animals affect your interests? For example, let's say someone likes writing and gets either a sucubat or a crown crab attached to them. What would be the effects?

Succubats are a lot more external. You have a tail that wags about or looks at your work curiously. It can be especially disruptive if you have a tail maw. But you can also keep your tail appeased and entertained, just don't neglect it. You could still be a writer

Crown crabs would affect your writing in that your hands are GIGANTIC. but if you get past that, you could still write, you would just get a literal nagging voice if you write too long. It's a give and take thing. You could still be a writer

would strenuous training (ie. lifting weights, or maybe dump trucks given their size lol) kind of satisfy the symbiote's need for exertion, or is it more like taking a dog for walk?

also do they like eating anything your standard hominid would think is weird? I think you're the first creator I've seen have it so that the host and symbiote could be at odds with dietary choices; usually what I see in fiction is one party in the merger changes their palettes completely, usually in favor of the symbiote.

They want to play or hunt or do things.

They're omnivores, so maybe? But their favorite food will vary by crab. Maybe one likes chocolate, or raw meat, or doggy treats, or bananas
