* This is an old picture from the 1990's when I was starting to get into doing stories and artwork that had an increasing fantasy influence. It was a story that took place in the modern world but it had elements of fantasy mixed in with it. Best way to describe it was a modern day world with D&D elements,creatures and places that were seperate. The world was divided into two zones, a modern day half where the human dominated portion was technology based. The other part was fantasy based where sorcery kept the technological half in check. As long as there was a balance of power between the two sides then everything would be good. Whenever one side tried to gain an advantage on the other then the peace would be at risk.

Various villains of medium to high ranks would come along and try to gain advantages. The most interesting thing is that in all parts of the world there would be pieces of each civilization found in the other's territory. For example you could find the remains of the fantasy world in the technological areas, and parts of the tech socienty in the fantasy realms. Each side had its historians who did archeological digs to try and find out what happend in the past. They discovered that at one time the entire world had a stable balance of both tech and fantasy. However, the two sides eventually split due to a massive global calamity and each side went to one part or the other to start over again. As result each side developed differently because the balance had slowly disappeared.

In this picture a human adventurer who has an interest in the fantasy realm found his way into an ancient city on a large Island. There he went into an old abandoned structure which was basically the old world's United Nations. There he ran into the dragon that had made this place their home but got trapped inside the old building when the one passage that they could fit through had collapsed. This dragon fed on energy from one of the world's twin suns. They lost a lot of their abilities and strength and could not free themself, until the human came along. At first the dragon tried to kill the human by shooting at him with magic bolts that acted like lazers. However, the human offered to free the dragon with his technology, ( explosives ) and then they would decide what to do from there. Once free the dragon could step out into the suns and regenerate strength and ability. In return for his aid the dragon starts to tell the human many of the historical secrets that have been lost long ago to scholars and historians.

** This picture was one of the last ones that I remember doing with wooden pencils because it was around that time that I got my first mechanical pencils. This dragon has no discernable gender because they were the descendant of a race of creatures that were genetically engineered.
