Redwall RP character.
Durek is a rat who came from an island far to the north off the coast of Marshank. His father is a pirate king who raised his son on the teachings of great heroes like Cluny, Greeneyes and Gabool.
His mother was a slave taken from a family of mice in Mossflower, she told him of all the lies his father put in his head and spoke of great heroes like Gonuff, Mariel and Martin the Warrior. Durek asked his father about his lies but he just smiled and told him not to worry about liars.
One night Durek awoke and found his mother outside on the grass. He came to her aid and found she had been tortured near to death, she pleaded with him to go to Redwall and find out the truth, then she died.
Durek didn't know what to do, he loved his mother and his father but something was telling him to leave for Redwall.
He took his mother and wrapped her in his white bedsheets, finding a boat he cast off making for the mainland when his father and a lot of his guards stopped him. His father told him to return or be branded a traitor to his evil empire he was creating. Durek continued after seeing his fathers true colours.
A storm kicked up shipwrecking the little boat, his mother was lost at sea and in his panic to get to her he was knocked out by a piece of the wrecked boat.
While he was knocked out he had a dream of a mouse wearing the most shiny armour he had ever seen and a sword that could no doubt slice a boat in two. His mother was behind him in a big red building, she was playing with some 2 dibbuns and a young'un, another mouse came and kissed her. Before she was a slave she had a family, the armoured mouse told him. "Go south until you see the big red building and when their leader asks you why you have come tell him Amanda Beechtree". Durek woke up near a ruined fortress, next to him was the sheets he wrapped his mother in. He wore them like a cloak to remind him what his father did. Durek went south just as the mouse told him to and within a few days he found it, he found Redwall Abbey.
He told the leader, the abbot the name and he was told to explain himself. He told them everything, shocked with his honesty they gave him a room and told him of his mother. Durek refused anything they gave him after learning of his mothers past and her family. They give him a bed, he would sleep on the floor. They give him food, he would give it to the young'uns. They gave him water, he would drink it only if he desperately needed it.
Durek meet with his mothers family but didn't tell them who he was, just that she wanted them to have this sheet. They didn't understand what a rat was doing in their home let alone giving them a dirty piece of ripped cloth. They made him leave telling him to keep the cloth.
Outside, a dibbun approached him telling him of a dream he had. He was in it and Martin too and a big black bird and squirrels and a hare and a badger and loads of rats on a island with big rocky bits. He said his mother was in it too and she's proud durek came to her home. Durek started to cry in front of the dibbun telling him he will avenge her and the whole family, understandably the dibbun was confused but before he could say another word Durek was gone.
After dinner Durek made his way back to his room and found a box on his bed with a letter in it from the abbot. it read that his mothers family are grateful that you came all this way to tell us of the fate of Amanda and they are sorry for casting Durek out of their home. The dibbun told the abbot what Durek was planning and wanted to give him a parting gift. In the box was a long shirt of chainmail armour and a pear muffin.
Durek put on the armour and left the abbey still reading the note, he left the pear muffin outside the door of Beechtree. As he walked away he continued to read the letter. "No matter who you are or what you were. You will always have a place at Redwall".
Durek found shelter in the ruins of Saint Ninians church where he felt an overwhelming need to wait. After two days a hare and a badger came in saying that some beast was looking for help on a quest. Still clutching the letter in his paws the final line read. "My child, you don't need to walk alone anymore. Heroes walk with heroes and soon you will become legends".
