I've been working on this one for quite some time, so I'm am pleased to finally reveal it! I tried a ton of new techniques on both the characters and the backgrounds, so please let me know what you think of it! I wanted to try a more cinematic look, like the cover of a book or comic.
Ever since finishing my first proper Kroashent sequence, Moonlit Tavern ( kathalia.deviantart.com/galler… ) about a year ago, I've been wanting to really push forward on Kroashent related stories and drawings. I was really proud of the end result and hope to use this project as a spiritual successor to it to develop the character and the world. I hope everyone enjoys what is to come!
Kroashent: Ar Chase Gouez (The Wild Hunt)
An ominous sound echoes across the rolling hills of Carnac as a heavy fog roll across the landscape, swallowing up the villages and hamlets in its mists. As Kathalia and Gwae work frantically to uncover its mysteries, they find themselves against a challenge stronger than they have ever faced before, one that will push their abilities to the limit, threatening their loyalties and their lives as the evil within turns its eyes on them....

A very sharp eye! It is in fact Herne the Hunter! (although he'll largely be referred to as "Cernunnos" in universe) Was waiting to see if anyone could identify him before he was formally introduced and I was not disappointed. Herne will be playing a major role in the story.
Admittedly, you did put a rather big clue in your translation of the title in your secondary description. Herne is the master of the Wild Hunt, or so I'm told, so it would make sense that it might be him in the background. That, and I admit I ot my first exposure to here thanks to The Dark is Rising Sequence. Those novels are AMAZING!
Amen! It was genius. Pure genius!
*Proceeds to speak in an apocryphal tone*
"When the Dark comes rising, six shall turn it back.
Three from the Circle, three from the Track.
Wood, Bronze, Iron. Water, Fire, Stone.
Five will return and one go alone.
Iron for the Birthday, bronze carried long
Wood from the burning, stone out of song.
Fire in the candle ring, water from the thaw.
Six signs, the Circle, and the grail gone before.
Fire on the Mountain shall find the harp of gold
Played to wake the sleepers, oldest of the old.
Power from the Greenwitch, lost beneath the sea.
All shall find the light at last. Silver on the tree."
Seriously, loved that prophecy she wrote so much.
