Public History of the 7 Knights of Qurie
Here is the public access history of the Royal Knights to the Princess of the Land of Qurie. These seven individuals have been chosen to lead the nation's armies, research and document their findings, and overall be the leading figure of all Loyalists. They're pure bodied men from different classes, personalities, stature, but all share the common goal of reuniting a broken nation to it's former glory. If you care to read more about them, it's a long one, but I've done my best to give you simple facts and information key to each of these men who shaped Loyalist history after the "Big Bang". Thanks for reading if you do! Ask questions if you have any.
Royal Knight Hugo Trudew is the 1st and only official knight to be chosen by the queen while on her death bed. He was picked because he was a long family friend of the Queen and served closely to the royal family as a castle guard. Only when he would return the country back to normal after the chaos of the raiding mutants and zombies, then he would become the king of Qurie. He would remain king until the princess had picked her husband to rule by her side (they didn't expect this battle to go on so long). He proudly lead many battles to reclaim the Castle city limits from the marauders, but when their numbers grew too numerous to fend off, he fell in battle. He was only the Royal Knight for 6 months, and was the 1st Knight to fight Jim.
Knight Chance Rooth was picked to lead after Trudew as he was leading fronts away from Castletown and proving to be a merciless leader. Able to swipe down Zombies with single blows from his axe. He was responsible for starting the Raidie Kill counter that loyalist soldiers love to brag about, where his grand total was 120. When people think of what it means to be the Royal Knight to the Princess, they think of Rooth. Movies and other media usually write their stories about his achievements, but they will often claim that he was the 1st Knight or get him and Trudew mixed up. He fought Jim several times, establishing just how horrible the leader of the Raidies was, and how difficult he is to kill. Yet sadly his body was not strong enough to survive cancerous growths and after two years of fighting as the knight, he was buried in a tomb on Loyalist grounds.
Both Rooth and Trudew's battle strategies were to kill off as many Raidies as they could, but it never seemed to work. There were always more Raidies and Zombies then they were killing and Jim's powers were uncontrollable and surmountable. He would see his Raidies being killed by the Loyalists and retaliate by kidnapping and brainwashing Loyalists, separating them from their families. When General Jargon completely recovered to head the military forces he still needed a Knight to go out serve the need to rally troops and understand the Raidie threat.
He called upon 40 year old Police Chief Indy Gendrum, a veteran of the Military, who knew his country better then any of the surviving troops they had. Gendrum's strategy was study and recovery of the Raidie threat. If they could be converted back to a Loyalist there wasn't a need to kill them, and if you understood how Jim was able to mind control them then you could find ways to understand their attack patterns. He'd talk to Raidies and find out that most of them aren't even in control of what they're doing and that they all can communicate with each other mentally. He would often roam alone in areas that he knew were dangerous and document how the land was slowly starting to mutate and change. He witnessed how plants and animals start to walk and talk like humans and kept the best catalog of all his adventures. He rarely had face to face interactions with Jim but observed the mutant from afar. He was known as "GranDad" to the Princess and most people were glad to have a Knight that wasn't a violent leader.
When Gendrum went missing during one of his spelunking trips, the officials in charge claimed that he must've fallen and died in a place that they couldn't recover him. He had been the Knight for 4 and half years and people had noticed how he started to get more delirious, assuming that he might've been developing a brain tumor. There was a funeral held for him without a body recovered and soon they started looking for a new Knight. This was the 1st time they held competitions for the Knight Position. Any Soldier who fit the requirements of 1) Being free of any artificial body parts (because Jim could control them) 2) Could prove fertility and a healthy body 3) Have a high Raidie Kill count 4) Complete the then 3 Point Kill Shot the most accurately (shooting a dummy in the Heart, Neck and Brain in that order from a 50 foot range because that was the closet anyone could get to Jim) had a chance to become the next Knight.
Nester Mio was the best candidate for the position, and was ceremoniously knighted by an 8 year old Princess Peacock with cameras and press. Yet he had no joy to express about winning, as his only goal was to get close to Jim and make the man suffer. Nester, as they said in all the publicity, was orphaned at age 11 along with his childhood friend and witnessed his family mutate before his eyes. As the military needed more and more soldiers to replace the dead and turning, Nester and his friend were thrust into service at 12. He had collected such a high number of killed Raidies by 17 that he was a sure in for the Knighthood. He wanted to relive the glory that Knight Rooth had started and he was severely disappointed at Gendrum for never sending them out to fight in bloody battles.
Yet to make matters worse for Nester, he ended up playing babysitter for the Princess most of the time and going on press dockets to promote the Pride of being a Loyalist. His story was perfect for the recovering Loyalist society but all Nester wanted was to get in Jim's face, smash it to pieces and die knowing he got his revenge. His kill count is yet to be unrivaled at 234 and it was rumored he actually got Jim down to submission, yet was unable to complete the task. To add to the confusion about Nester's departure as the knight, after 4 years of brutal dedication, he up and vanished after rumors of him turning into a Raidie started to go around. At the time they called him a traitor, but since then it's been said that the stress of war got to him, he went mad and disappeared. They do not talk about or show Nester's face around anymore, and young people are barely taught about him.
To take the Knighthood in a less aggressive tone, they luckily picked a valley boy who willfully joined the service at 16, Keith Ohharr. He passed the accuracy of the 3 Point Kill Shot technique like noone else could, and had been drama free since the big bang. The main criticism people had about Keith was that he was too nice. He never valued the kill count and often found clever ways of dispatching Raidies other then killing them. He saw himself more as a peace keeper, and he was the 1st to interact with Madame, letting her know that she was not seen as a threat to Loyalists so long as she never sided with Jim. His actions were often made fun of, and was portrayed as flamboyant and weak to his nay sayers, even though his victories were higher then any previous Knight.
Keith's fights were actually televised because they wanted the public to know what it took to be a Knight. He loved his country very much, and his social interactions with citizens were always a big deal. There are even photos of young Max giving Keith a drawing of him as Keith was known to always "Like" and "comment" to those who gave him gifts. Keith was a knight of the people for the people, so it's only natural that his tragic death was a horrible blow to everyone. In a televised battle against Jim, Keith was leading to an amazing victory as he nailed the 3 Point Kill Shot with perfection, twice. Yet recordings of the event from Loyalist broadcasts were cut off just after scrap metal is thrown around with such speed it chops off Keiths arm and he falls over screaming. Rumors that Raidies have video of the final moments of Keith's death surface around, and is used to sting Loyalist pride. Keith's body was never recovered as Jim took the corpse as his personal trophy, feeling like he made a mistake for never capturing any of the previous Knights.
After having a young Knight for 5 Years, it was time to look for another veteran. Victor Palpanoose never held any high position in the military, never spoke out, never asked questions, he mostly was really good at paperwork and was stationed as dispatcher for the military. Sure he passed the same trials that were already established for the Knighthood like he didn't have any artificial parts, seemed in good health at age 35, and nailed the 3 Point Kill Shot which turned into a 5 Point (two shots for each lung from 5 feet away). Books will say that he was a good man, and could accomplish what he was told to do. Yet every time he went face to face with Jim, which seemed like more times then any previous knight, he never won. Palpanoose loved the cameras and made them fallow him around for every minor little interaction with Raidies to set an example of what he would do when he caught them. They only stopped fallowing him around on missions when the Madame started sabotaging the broadcasts with nude shows and bird droppings.
Palpanoose held the Knight position the longest out of any previous Knight, and for 7 years all he seemed to do was just gush about himself. He'd be on TV shows promoting books about the Knights, Royal family and any Loyalist achievement. He'd have shows about self defense, weaponry and attend rallies full of the richest investors the Loyalists have. His main downfall was getting cocky enough to record an interview on the Loyalist side of Echo City where the Madame flew down and plucked out his heart on live TV. After this it was almost like there was no point to having a Knight anymore, but with the Princess nearing her 30th birthday and still no man in her life, they had to keep trying.
So we come down to Max Tourez, a country bumpkin with no military training and no public records other then his internet profile. Son of a widower seamstress and a military soldier who died in battle, he was raised by his single mother on meager earnings and deserves to be thrust into the lime light to set an example. Much like Nester, Max was picked to be a symbol of the new generation, born during the height of the Raidie invasions and exemplifies how growing up under the Loyalist teachings and rhetoric can build the best individuals. He could be the one knight to be crowned King, but only by default...yet it's clear that he can be replaced if he doesn't watch himself.
Course as your author I know more details about each of the knights that I could share, but a TRUE Loyalist would never question what they're told. You just accept what you're told and go about your day. Praise the princess!
