That's how it started for me, too. I started drawing when I was young as an escape, I definitely never set out to make money from it - in fact I'd never recommend that anybody get into a creative media with the intent to make money.
Now? Yeah, I want to make money from it, but only because it's something I enjoy and it's been a passion project self teaching for all these years to get to where I am now.
So long as you enjoy it you don't really need a reason.
