I had a lot of fun imagining how that conversation on the tavern could have been, as well as the following fight.

Im happy that you like the comic! And the theme you mention is indeed one of the themes that this comic focuses on.
what if a yinglet was cut off from an enclave since birth?
What quirks are inherited and what are developed in the social?
What if the yinglet had a life of its own and wasn't owned? how would he/she develop?

It should be interesting. All we know so far is they got an enclave, and a matriarch, and little else. Though I expect the population is not huge yet. Mori might end up creating an radacal a modification to yinglet sociaty as Vislet is trying. Just by being compitant, and being able posably to teach some of that.
Too many take short attention spans to mean stupid/unable to think deeply, it does not, it more means thay keep fliping between ideas. A yinglet thinker would probably have hundreeds of little thought projects going at a time, where human thinkers tend to have les than 10 going at once. It does mean thay would advance slower in pure logical thought paths, but, the insperation momants should be astonoshing

Grandpa seems to be supportive. But isn't it an option for Mori just to stay with Eric and Amilja and Neria once they get their own place? They seem to get along so well.
Also, isn't it odd for Mori to go to bed along with the human family? Shouldn't he be sleeping for an hour four or five times a day?

It was never Mori´s or Eric´´s intention to stay together forever, both parts know that.
Yinglets do sleep at night, so him going to bed at the same time as them is quite normal.
Mori´rai do take small naps, but i´d say this happens "behind" the comic :) I dont feel I need to show it numerous times, but we do see an example of this in chapter 38
