This is a piece from Digital TranceFurs, a two musician conglom consisting of
and myself. We've got a fairly good collection of stuff we've done together, but we've been on a bit of a hiatus in recent years. This is probably the last thing we came out with.
It was an interesting story how it came about. We weren't roommates at the time, in fact I lived about 90 miles away. But he made up a basic loop with the synth sequence and sent it to me. I listened and added the bassline and the conga percussion and sent it back. He listened and added the drums and pads... it was kind of a chess-by-mail thing, except it was song-by-e-mail. Very unique way to write a song!
Now kiyofox came out of college with a degree in Music Composition (or something similar to it) and did the bulk of the musical parts. I definitely like the progression, especially the alternate chord progression that shows up after the break. And it also does something that I like in songs: that even with all the different chord changes, the bassline stays the same through the whole song and still fits.
I think I was the one to finally take our 8- or 16-bar work-loop and break it out into a song structure with a start and an end. Plus in what I think was a very cool addition, I gathered and added all the ambiance. Once I wanted to add that, the opening pretty much wrote itself.
So it's probably just a little longer than it needs to be, but sit back and relax and give it a listen.
Interesting note: Only three of the bird sounds came as samples in Reason. The other bird calls and the swamp sounds were taken from a rather unique and interesting source. Any guesses?

Heh, I guess I should have clarified. I don't know what the actual calls are, just where I got them from... >.<
The swamp insects and three of the six birds came from the game Unreal. Talk about having a sound effects library and not realizing it... and they even give you the tools you need to extract the sounds with the game.
