This is perhaps one of the best reasons for my annual attendance of FE; my roommate surely knows that I'm a sucker for a fantastic vantage point, and this high-positioned view of Lake Ontario just never gets old!
While my roommate headed out for breakfast with friends, I chowed down on some pancakes at the hotel restaurant, before continuing on to the con space. My Saturdays at conventions are usually when I 'live it large' to put it lightly, so I ended up with around 6 commissions, 3 prints, and several other bits and bobs from around the dealers' den, and artists' alley. Not a bad haul, I'd say! My large breakfast meant that I didn't feel the need to have lunch, and so I was able to attend the charity panel, and to learn about all the inspiring work that the 'Happily Ever Esther' charity does for the benefit of its residents. Following the thoroughly interesting talk, I made my way to the Fursuit Fiesta, and led Knaw around for a while in his expertly homemade saber tooth suit.
Being St. Patrick's Day, I was intent on having at least a few drinks that night, and so after discovering Salvestro and
in the Zoo, I extended an invitation for dinner out. Salvestro suggested a British-themed pub called the 'Firkin', and so the two of us headed out for a bite at around 6. Though initially sceptical, which wasn't aided by the large Union Flag plastered onto the wall near the entrance, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their bangers and mash, and by their variety of cider on offer, though I'm confident in saying that Salvestro's company in any establishment certainly makes for more interest and enjoyment. After heading back, I inquired with Soba if he would like some dessert, though we settled for a few drinks in the Westin bar. Somehow, we had managed to clean the entire hotel of cider over two days (I swear that it wasn't all my doing, though I'd like to think that it was), and so I settled for a local Pilsner, which was rather good. Parting ways after a couple of hours, I headed for the Canine Meet & Greet, hosted by
and
, which was a great deal of fun, despite the strength that was sapped by the animals-in-boxes event next door. I split off from the group prior to the midnight howl, which I really must attend one of these years, and returned to my room to collapse.
Hope you enjoy!
