UMBC's True Grit all happy (25, version 1)
It was a thing I decided to do as if you were a basketball fan for the men's div. 1 NCAA ( www.ncaa.com/sports/basketball-men/d1 ) you would not forget that fateful Thursday. On the Ides of March (15) there was UMBC ranked #16 ( academic: www.umbc.edu /athletic: www.umbcretrievers.com ) facing the #1 overall seed, Virginia ( www.uva.edu / www.virginiasports.com ). Unbelievably, this has never been done before in men's competition: #16 defeating #1, but what makes it appalling is that Virginia lost BY TWENTY to this school! For making history after 135 attempts, I felt like drawing the mascot of the school, a Chesapeake Bay retriever that if you do see him in RL, he does show teeth, but he seems to snarl and is always angry: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/.....s_Building.jpg
He should have a smile after such a priceless win, don't you think?
I used in almost all the coloring, chalk pastel for the first time ever. I would have done a little bit better on the hands and arms, but I feel like I improved. Thanks to the varied way of adding color using chalk pastel, there is some shading and I like what I did in traditional art. If I did miss some spots or that it was impossible with color pastel (The ones I have right now are jumbo sized.), I did put colored pencil. Now I did not put much in terms of how he is situated, but it was more of flat colored, but had the shading unexpectedly, and had no plans for a background.
If I rate my at on a scale of 6, I say 5.6. I plan on blending in more colored implements soon as though chalk pastel is messy, it can do great coloring with crayons and colored pencils. I will see how markers will do too!
(There will be a black & white version of this one as well.)
NO, he isn't a Labrador!
