Patrick came home after a movie night with Gazelle at her mansion; he was happy to spend some time while not at college. "At least there's not much work to do this weekend...." he thought to himself.
The wolf decided to get some early shut eye for tomorrow, he needed it anyhow due to the stress of assignments. Patrick walked upstairs into his bedroom to get a shower. After washing up and drying off he then dressed in a t-shirt and pajama pants laid in bed. Patrick checked his phone for any new notifications or messages. There was a message from Gazelle, it read: "Hey great night! Want to get some breakfast tomorrow morning at the café? How’s 9:00 o’clock sound?"
The wolf smiled and replied back in his phone: "Sure! Would love to do it tomorrow, at least I don't have much college to do." He waited for a few minutes until his phone rang a new message: "Alright! See you tomorrow!" Patrick replied a quick: "You too" and turned off his phone.
He then set for his alarm at 7:00 am and reached for the lamp switch and turned it off with a CLICK. Resting his head on the pillow, Patrick yawned and let the tiredness of his eyes put him to sleep. As he slept something mysterious happened: Patrick opened his eyes immediately saw that he was not in his bedroom anymore, but on a dirt road with a view of a beautiful country side all around him. The sky was clear with some clouds and sunny. He looked down at himself saw that his pajamas were gone. The wolf was now wearing a red and yellowish orange and white stripped jacket, a white buttoned shirt and a light blue bowtie, white slack pants and a straw boater hat that had the same color scheme as his jacket. Patrick looked at his right hand to see he was carrying a cane.
"Wait a minute, the pretty sky, the amazing scenery, the outfit.....I'm Bert from Mary Puppins!" screamed his mind.
While in shock, Patrick turned his head to see none other than.....GAZELLE as...... Mary Puppins?! She was of course dressed in a Victorian white dress with a red corset holding a white umbrella. He was so adored by her look Patrick smiled and said, "Mary Puppins you look beeeeautiful!"
"I have Bert's English accent too!" thought the wolf excitedly.
"You really think so?" asked Gazelle.
Patrick blushed and said, "Cross me heart you do! Like the first day I met ya...." He was so giddy replaying the scene from Mary Puppins!
Gazelle giggled and responded, "You look fine too Bert."
Soon enough Patrick got in position with Gazelle and started to skip singing:
(Patrick): Ain't it a glorious day?
Right as a mornin' in May
I feel like I could fly!
In that moment the wolf flapped his hands and flew a few feet into the air before Gazelle pulled him down by the arm back on the ground saying, "Now Bert, none your larking about."
Patrick continued singing pointing with his cane:
(Patrick): Have you ever seen the grass
So green, or a bluer sky?
He then back into same position with Gazelle skipping and singing:
(Patrick): Oh it's a jolly 'oliday with Mary
Mary makes your 'eart so light!
Gazelle giggles saying, “You haven’t changed a bit, have you?”
Immediately he grabs her umbrella and walks it in front of her whilst crouching down.
(Patrick:): When the day is gray and ordianry
Mary makes the sun shine bright!
At that moment she rolls her eyes still smiling as Patrick gives back her umbrella, “Oh honestly….” Both skip past a few trees as the wolf bellows:
(Patrick): Oh, 'appiness is bloomin' all around 'er
The daffodils are smilin' at the dove
He stops with her and gently grabs her hand:
(Patrick): When Mary 'olds your 'and
You feel so grand
Your 'eart starts beatin' like
A big brass band!
Patrick then beats his cane over his head comically as Gazelle laughs. “You are lightheaded,” she says.
(Patrick): It's a jolly 'oliday with Mary
No wonder that it's Mary that we love!
They both skip into a small village where there are a group of mammals are hustling about as Patrick and Gazelle enters through. The wolf guides the gazelle as she flies into the air and down onto a short stone wall. Gazelle in return grips his hand and makes him fly and into the air! Thankfully the Patrick lands tripping a bit but on his feet as the group saw the spectacle. He then taps his cane onto the ground as the group of mammals start to sing with each one having a line from the chorus:
(Ram):Oh it's a jolly 'oliday with Mary
(4 small sheep): Mary makes your 'eart so light!
(A male horse): When the day is gray and ordianry
( female cow): Mary makes the sun shine bright!
(A trio of gooses): Oh, 'appiness is bloomin' all around 'er
(A lone pig): The daffodils are smilin' at the dove
(Whole Group): When Mary 'olds your 'and
You feel so grand
Your 'eart starts beatin' like
A big brass band!
Patrick helps guide Gazelle and both turn and wave goodbye as they skip their way out of the village but not before hearing the villages finish:
It's a jolly 'oliday with Mary
No wonder that it's Mary that we love!
Both mammals are alone once again as they skip and galivant through the forest dancing around the trees and such. As they move about they encounter a large lake to cross; but then two turtles swimming came up to them and point to get on their backs. Patrick and Gazelle put one foot on a turtle they’re on. Then the turtles swim as the wolf and gazelle hold hands together to keep balance.
Patrick’s ride almost ends in getting wet as the turtle he rides is trying to hand his foot on his shell. He sheepishly grins at Gazelle at almost plunging into the cold water. Once on the other side both mammals get off and Gazelle thanks the two turtles saying, “Thank you!”
“Our pleasure Mary Puppins!” as they wave and sink back into the water to swim some more.
Patrick then guides Gazelle as they skip to a nice small bridge with steps on either side. He helps her go up first and follows behind as she starts to sing:
(Gazelle): Oh, it's a jolly holiday with you, Bert
Gentlemammals like you are few
The wolf tips his hat, “A vanishing breed that’s me!”
(Gazelle): Though you're just a diamond
In the rough, Bert
Underneath your blood is blue!
Patrick straightens the blow bowtie smiling with half lidded eyes stating, “Common knowledge.”
(Gazelle): You'd never think of pressing
Your advantage
Forbearance is the hallmark of your creed
“True!” said Patrick nodding to the statement.
(Gazelle): A lady needn't fear when you are near
Your sweet gentility is crystal clear!
Oh, it's a jolly holiday with you, Bert
A jolly, jolly holiday with you!
As Patrick smiles he looks at Gazelle smiling back when:
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
“WAAAAH!” yells the wolf as he shaken awake by the alarm clock. Patrick then bangs the snooze button looking at the clock reading: 7:00 and presses his fingers into his eyes.
“That felt so real….I wonder if Gazelle had a dream last night like that after watching Mary Puppins?” he wondered.
Patrick got up out of bed and into the shower to rinse off, then getting dried off and dressing in a t-shirt and some jeans before heading out the door. He walked downtown Zootopia still thinking about the dream as he passed by mammals on the sidewalk. The meandering wolf found the café and was surprised to Gazelle already there sitting at an outside table.
Walking up to her he said, “Wow Gazelle you’re here early!”
She giggled back at him, “Well I wanted to have more time to talk to you silly!” The wolf sat down across from Gazelle smiling. They both ordered breakfast soon enough as they both munched down on their respective dishes. Whilst eating Patrick felt his smile change to a look of seriousness.
Gazelle caught on to this asking, “Is there something wrong?”
Patrick blushed a bit thinking how in the hell he was going to tell her what happened last night. “Well….”
“Yes?” she asked looking at him more concerned.
Patrick sighed and said, "Well do you have dreams while sleeping Gazelle?”
She laughed in hearing this question from a great friend she known for so long. “Of, course sweetie! We all do! Why what was your dream about?”
The blushing then came in full effect as he told her everything that happened in the dream: from him being Bert and her being Mary Puppins to skipping singing and dancing about.
Gazelle sat there stunned and with her eyes big as dinner plates. Patrick was worried he might’ve weirded her out. “Great good job Nightwind, you just weirded out the most popular popstar in Zootopia and your best friend too,” he thought embarrassingly as he picked up his glass of milk to drink.
Gazelle at this point started to say something really quietly, “Patrick, I have to tell you
something…..I had that same dream too!” She started to blush profusely.
Hearing this made the wolf spat out his milk in from his mouth: PFFFFFFFFTTTTT! He did a double take rubbing his eyes amazed at what was just said. “Wait what?!”
She nodded and put a hoof behind her head rubbing it gently.
“Umm yeah, it’s just so funny and ironic how we both watched that movie last night and had the same dream……”
Both mammals sat quiet listening to the cars and mammals pass by. Patrick glanced back at Gazelle as straight face turned into a smile. He started to laugh about it saying, “You know what that pretty much tells me?”
“What?” asked the confused gazelle.
“It tells me that we both love Mary Puppins that much more!!!” he responded. It was then Gazelle’s turn to smile and laugh.
She mused, “You know it’s so sweet of you to be honest Patrick, that’s what makes my day. To sit here talk about our favorite things……wait…… do you want to watch the Sound of Music tonight?”
The wolf became wild-eyed and groaned a bit for hearing that title. It was one of his musicals he detested to watch growing up.
Gazelle laughed. “Ha just kidding.”
Patrick giggled in knowing that his friend was only teasing him. He replied, “You know let’s stick to something more classic…..how about Singin' in the Rain hmmmmm?”
“That sounds lovely; how I enjoy that movie so much!” she exclaimed. Sitting there in the chair Patrick knew one thing: they both sure did love musicals and was glad to have someone along for the ride.
