In today's episode, we finally see that portions of the Master of Elfhame's plan to wreck the banks of the Principality of Licksburg is coming to fruition.
Which, naturally, prompts a debate between that deer and Crown Prince Gawain Adlersson, who naturally accuses WW5 of having broken certain promises to refrain from (unsanctioned) throne-breaking...
...oh, yes, and Prince Gawain does find out one (two?) facts that absolutely turn his weltanschuung on its head.

Oh dear. All hell's out for breakfast, now that Gawain knows that WW5 and Anastasia are all but married (and probably inferred that much!), and that WW5 has done a very large, very clever bit of barracks-lawyering that will almost certainly stand up in court.
Gawain apparently *thinks* it's throne-breaking, regardless of the actual facts. WW5's fate lies in just how much Gawain is constrained by the laws of the Empire.

True. On the other hand, Adler's not very far from his Embrace, and Gawain, as was written about another literary monarch, seems to be the kind of guy who "holds a grudge until it dies of old age and then has it stuffed and mounted".
Revenge is a dish best served cold, and Gawain will be in position to do the serving.

Hmmm.... let's see
Poor Nope... lotsa bravoes in his accounts and on hand right now
Brave Yup... to stand up to Gawain like that, definitely
Dumb Could be... As mentioned, Gawain seems like the type to hold a grudge and nurse it until he gets revenge.. gotta be a little stupid to poke that wasp nest with a stick
Bastard Nope, pretty sure his parents were married, even if it was just in the Elfhamian sense...

One very important note. Gawain now knows WHAT WW5 is up to, but not WHY. this is important. Anastasia may be the best one to explain it to him, to break the bankers hold on her. Whether Gawain will approve when he knows WHY will be the big question. The bankers hold on her even extends to her undergarments, which will make it interesting to see which garments she chooses when not under their thumb.
Well, Westersloe has not just thrown a spanner in the works, he's thrown the entire toolbox into the whole schebang.
As TonyaTigress stated, Gawain is the kind of fur who likely "holds a grudge until it dies of old age and then has it stuffed and mounted". This bodes ill for WW5 after King Adler shuffles off... things will likely be personal, petty and messy... Gawain is the type who will not hesitate to 'cut off his nose to spite his face'.

Which was one-sided, as Lord Dannel (Lucky) Bark stood, silently, listening to a long harangue. Every so often, he lifted a paw to wipe a bit of spittle from the front of his immaculate white jacket.
I am guessing that this is because Bark (Fat and Banker) is expressing his dissatisfaction that Bark (Young, Rich and Smirking) has refused to extend his wealth to bail out Bark, Fallowfield & Stamp... or possibly Bark (Young, Rich and Smirking) has assisted the rush in his own way...
