The word "trap" isn't inherently disrespectful in its use depending on the circumstance. It is inherently disrespectful because of its original use and where it actually came from. I can't stop you from personally using slurs, but I'd at least like to try and help educate people about words that are slurs and that could offend others.

The word was initially used on 4chan to describe people that dressed all en femme with the intention of taking someone to the bedroom for dirty play. The idea behind the word had two meanings:
1.) the intention to do so was to either reveal to the person that they had sex with someone they didn't want to (in the case of a guy being "trapped"), thereby labeling him as gay - back during a time when there was still a lot of stigma behind the word
2.) that the person dressed in women's clothing (the "trap" itself) was a predatory gay person, using their cunning and wit over their strength to win over and have sex with the guy.
