I decided to do something silly. So I made an inlay of a space invader. Isn't it cute?
Had never done an inlay before. It was fun. Anodized aluminum and bright aluminum.

Nice work ^_^
Was this pre-designed of made up as you went?
Poke around on google for a program called "irregular Grid Painter" it's a bit twitchy at times but it's fantastic for designing inlays in many doferent weaves
The same guy also does a script that puts said designs through POV-Ray to make a 3D version

I've seen the program, but wanted to do something pixel-y. It took a little bit of futzing to figure out how big a pixel is to make it square, but after that I worked straight from the picture.
In my opinion, it's always more fun if you can figure out something for yourself rather than finding a computer program to tell you how to do it. Which is why I avoided using that program this time.
