It’s out! The Pirate’s Fate is officially available on Steam to purchase!
Thank you so much for all of your patience and enthusiasm. This project would not have been possible without you all. When we started we never thought that so many people would be interested in a game like this and we are continuously humbled by the amount of support we received from you all.
~~Tips for playing!~~
The game has a lot of endings and hundreds of choices, so things can vary considerably. We encourage you to experiment, save often, and replay the game to see what’s different. There are 8 main paths, with sub-variations and secret endings throughout. If you have a cameo character in the game and missed them, they are almost certainly on another path. Likewise, some characters have larger parts in one path than in another.
If you run into any bugs, or have any questions about the game, please visit our Steam Discussion group here.: http://steamcommunity.com/app/55348.....discussions/0/
We’re going to be setting up a Known bugs thread in the tech support channel on Steam soon with commentary so you all can see if anything comes up.
~~ How you can help the game become a success. ~~
If you decide to buy the game, we also encourage you to please leave your thoughts and share your experiences playing the story. This is very much a novel (no pun intended!) project for Steam, and helping people see that you all enjoyed the game will go a long way towards helping newcomers decide to give the game a shot. Please consider leaving a review on Steam.
Would you like to talk about the game, ask us questions, or learn how you can help us make this game a continued success? Please consider visiting our Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/ThePiratesFate/
Now get out there and find those coins! :D

I got it. I'm not sure I'll leave a review... unfortunately. I have a few family members and normal friends on Steam, so I have to sort of stay covert when it comes to this game. But I probablly can't hide it forever. Have to play it in offline mode to stay invisible. XD
Really, frickin' fantastic work. It's a honor to know you, and it's amazing that one of my favorite fat artists, you, has done something this impressive. <3

It does deserve recignition! This is the only visual novel I know of that offers this much diversity. Most visual novels are very hard for me to get into because I keep going into them as regular games; when really they are books with pictures and voice acting. Does this game have voice acting?
really are you sure about that because theres always good ones and bad ones but if thats your choice then good luck and if this game has good support then you volkenfox are very lucky and made a great game for everyone to play and you made your dream come true congrats on that well then this is only the beginning on your future so good luck
I always liked your art. And this game is awsome! I am into chubby and fat girls, i want lie. And see them act reasonable and interessting is funny. I love the "stuck" scene so far. Not only because it puts in perspective how much she puts on, but i love the discussion over beauty. How it is not only a good thing and can be understand as curse too. Respect for you hard work!
So i play more and hope for some bellys! "grin" and good dialogs.

I'm very happy to hear that! The stuck scene was a fun one to draw. We really wanted to try to add in those extra moments to integrate the art into the background and fit the plot. T.F. will absolutely be glad to hear you enjoyed the discussion as well, it was real important to him that he get that scene right.
Bought is and so far I'm absolutely adoring the game, very intriguing story, and the characters are pretty well fleshed out! I did have a question! You mention above that there's 8 main paths, but as of me being about 2-3 hours in, i've only noticed 3 obvious main paths! or do they branch further from there later on in the game? Currently playing through green!mia's route, because judging from some of the stuff in the beginnings of that route tells me it's most pertinent to my interests!
Regardless, you've made something wonderful here and aaa you're doing great!!

That's great! We really worked hard to make the story experience interesting and engaging!
And branches can form at different times in the game. There's definitely more than the three I'm guessing you've figured out.
I hope you find all the paths enjoyable though and definitely leave us a review on Steam sharing your thoughts once you finish!

No worries! The game isn't going away just yet!
And indeed! There are a few Let's Plays already popping up on Youtube and Twitch. Feel free to check them out or leave a comment in your favorite Youtuber/Twitch Gamer recommending they do a video on The Pirate's Fate. Never know what might happen.

Just finished my second playthrough today. I have to say, originally when I saw the work being done on this whenever I checked out this page, I didn't think much of it, mostly because I didn't know what to expect. But after giving it a shot yesterday, I immediately fell in love with it. I can't remember the last time I've been so invested in an adventure game that I wanted to play it more than once. I know I've only scratched the surface of what this has to offer, and that is so very exciting to me.
Thank you for all the work you've put into this. It really shows, and I cannot say enough how I love this game.

Wow! I'm flattered we were able to grow on you. Hearing that definitely has helped make the project all the more worthwhile to me. So thank you! Consider leaving a review for us on Steam sharing your thoughts so we can encourage more people on the fence to give us a shot too!
First let me say, I absolutely love love love this game! Great job! It was worth the wait. I was playing all night long.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I do have a question though. Is there a specific way to save the game? I haven’t been able to figure it out. I’m not sure if there is something I’m not doing, or if it’s because my computer is really old and shitty that it doesn’t allow me to see or use a save feature. I did it by accident once, I’m just not sure how.

I'm glad you're enjoying it! That's great to hear.
And yes, if you hit the escape key, you should see an option to open the save menu. You can then click any blank slot and it will generate a thumbnail of your moment in the campaign. Then to load a game, just go to the load menu from the title screen, or from hitting escape, and click the thumbnail you'd like to load.
Sorry for any inconvenience or confusion!

Just wanted to stop by and say how impressed I am with this. The art, the story, and the amount of content have all been fantastic. I love the characters and the voice acting isn't half bad. I know I am not being that specific, but I really don't want to spoil it for anyone. This is probably my second favorite VN of all time. Well worth the money.
-spoilers-
I must however say that the scene after almost being possessed as Mila, where you trick the caretaker into giving you supplies. The change in expressions on Mila's face caused me to laugh for a couple minutes straight.

was pleasantly surprised when i found this game on the steam front page and one digital deluxe version later now here i am a bunch of hours later after enjoying a fantastic story and finding some new artists to look at! thanks for such a great game. havent enjoyed a visual novel as much since angels with scaly wings!
I mean I knew what I was getting into; the demo was great back in late 2016. and it now fully being on Steam it really was an amazing journey I still have more ending to unlock through so far only 3! I love how the characters were written and what I could do to change how they look and how the story progressed. I hope to see what you make in the future
No problem at all. I really wanted to go deep with the review and write more, but since it was still new and a lot of people started playing it, I thought I wait a little while longer, until it was the right time to try again, and write a much better review for it. But still I'm happy you like the review, you and your team have done an amazing job with the game. I'm still continue playing this game non-stop, because I wanted to get all the artwork in the romance and ending list. I also brought the artwork book and music from steam and like some the design idea you had for Mila evil side. But any case, I like it all, but part of me still would mind to see more of Mila monkey side, she just so cute
I was worried about whether or not steam allowed content of a questionable nature. good to know there is some wiggle room there. I'll be sure to try it out but I guess like people said it might be good to appear offline to avoid some of your steam friends giving you weird looks lol.
ok so I just played it for like 6 hours straight, as much as I'd love more interactivity I can't deny I really enjoyed the story, particularly the branches where I turned the main character (and Morgana) into...well something that would not seem out of place in my gallery XD.
As much as those types of transformations interested me the most combined with their action scenes, I also liked the thought experiments and philosophical discussions also that not only applied to the mind but also going further beyond the idea of individual transformation and into the idea of fundamentally transformed realities too. Also I enjoyed callbacks from other story branches kind of re-appearing in other branches. anyways, the endings/arcs that were rather unpleasant made the happier endings sweeter seeing as how bad things could have ended up.
BTW while it's relatively easy to get MtF scenarios, I am curious about how the FtM that is also tagged would be triggered (feel free to note me to avoid spoilers). my first guess was if I made the main character too macho (including pairing off with all the female characters I could while being a beefy brute) that might be a risk, but that was an incorrect guess obviously lol.

Wow, I'm glad you liked it enough to play such a long sitting!
And indeed, I definitely tried to make those particular transformations striking! I'll be curious which of the Mila paths you got for that version.
I'll definitely have to share your thoughts with
mytransformations too! He'll be very happy to hear that you liked the thought experiments. We worked hard to try to make the story both meaningful and interesting. Given that the format is very much like an interactive screenplay, we knew we had to try to keep the dialogue interesting and make the consequences of your choices significantly alter the plot if we wanted to have people come back and try the story again.
No worries! That was a fun character transformation to explore, and very much one I haven't had many opportunities to work with in other projects. We'd love to expand the game if given the chance by both trying to see what cut content might be worth re-adding as well a bunch of new ideas, a lot of which was inspired by feedback we received.
Definitely consider leaving us a review on Steam. It helps a lot and we'd love to hear more of your thoughts!

Awesome! Thank you so much for taking a chance and giving our game a shot! We're currently working on adding some more epilogues to the game too, but I hope you enjoy finding the remaining endings in the meantime! Definitely consider leaving us a review on Steam too! It can help a lot and we'd love to hear your thoughts.
I would advise asking on the Steam Discussion group here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/553480/discussions/
If you have already found chef Leeko, but there is no romance option, keep in mind there are choices you can make in the game that make a character unwilling to romance you.

Bought this yesterday, having a right blast with it. There were some engine issues like endless loading, but after the first time that was worked around by regularly saving.
The hugs path is the best path. I adore how much of a "Let's just work together and be friends" person Mila becomes then.

I was surprised with this game.
I had a bad feeling with the price tag and voice acting in a visual novel.
My only issue is I never felt like I was involved with what was going on, everything felt rushed, suddenly you're at the end of the game and it's been a year but it felt so fast.
Regardless I'm planning on getting the comic and the soundtrack as of right now. It's a shame steam greenlight is gone, i would've loved to see more games be done like this despite the gripes I've had with it. At least it had more of a world then what I thought there was. Granted this puts you in a situation where you can't use the setting again unless you go back in time with the setting or render our choices useless and pick the ending you like for a sequel.
Despite the lack of immersion and the endings feeling a bit forced I still liked the game surprisingly, and held my attention for two days as I kept going back to various saves to look through other choices. I hope some day you plan to make another visual novel, though I doubt steam would be very accepting of it with the changes they have made to having greenlight be gone completely.
PS: I wish I could give some real input but it's difficult for people to make a character you can insert yourself onto. Most anime styled visual novels go with a bland looking main character with a lot of smaller choices that ultimately mean nothing. But with your focus on transformations it'd be hard to, and I suppose you wanted to instill some feeling that you're being controlled, as in, some things you do are out of your control due to the elements of the plot that I won't spoil. Also I was a tad bit annoyed at the lack of guns throughout the setting, it's a pirate setting, where it was common (atleast in our world) to have pirates be covered in guns because it took to long to reload, but the only time a gun was seen was on bad characters, never was the good guy holding a gun. I understand why it's not involved so much, a lot of situations in any story like this could be solved with a gun.

I appreciate the feedback and am glad you enjoyed it overall!
We will be doing an expansion for The Pirate's Fate, but afterwards we fully intend to try another game and see about implementing a whole variety of improvements to our approach, from a writing, visual, and technical side. We have spent a considerable amount of time going over critiques and comments over the past few months to see what people did and did not enjoy about the game. Granted, it will require a different story structure than The Pirate's Fate, but we're excited to see what we can do with all the information we recieved.
In the meantime though, thanks for your feedback and your support.

Such a beautiful game. Its rare games touch me in ways that leave me an emotional wreck and you have managed to do just that. The look on some of their faces when bad things happen. oh god the look i still cant get it out of my head. anyway i hope you continue to make things like this in the future you guys have created a diamond. Rourke and his heartfelt music knows just how to make sure it stings. Keep doing what you do!
Thank you! We really wanted to try to make a story with emotional depth to it so it means a lot to hear you enjoyed it that much. We definitely would like to continue making more projects like this in the future too.
Definitely consider leaving a review on Steam, it can go a long ways and we'd love to hear more of your thoughts.
