So since I was laid off, decided to make sure I work on something everyday in addition to job hunting.
Today was finishing up the forming of a rose with borax patina. This is copper that is quenched hot in a warm borax saturated water bath. The Patina forms from the chemical reaction and turns a deep red-purple, it's gorgeous, I think depending on how many times I quench it or how clean or hot the metal is before the patina gets variations, which in my opinion are gorgeous. Also as you form it the patina breaks up (since its on the surface) and reveals some of the orange copper beneath providing more "natural" color variation.
