I've always enjoyed rainstorms. Listening to the gentle pitter-patter on the roof, watching circles form in a pond from the splashing of tiny droplets...it's all a rather soothing experience. I often like to sit out in such a storm, letting the cold but refreshing water wash away the grime from my scales and the troubles from my mind.
Yet, on this one particular excursion, I happened to come across a little fox that didn't seem to be enjoying it so much. The curious fox seemed so innocent, and I couldn't help but offer a little bit of shelter for it to dry off.
Thus, I settled down peacefully with my wings raised for cover, and the next thing I knew, I had become a haven for quite the gathering. I didn't mind though, not when the thunder roared overhead, or even when the curtain of darkness fell upon us.
Indeed, the fireflies even came out to offer their light, making it clear that I had become a protector to this particular band of woodland creatures.
All I am left to wonder though, is what an interesting sight we must have been to any passerbys?
A very sweet piece drawn by Neytirix on DeviantArt that really captures my gentler nature. It was done a few months ago, so it actually uses my old design. Regardless, this is still one of my most prized pieces. She is a fabulous artist and very easy to work with, I highly recommend her!
