I am running a story contest! It’s my opinion that there’s a lack of good stories that explore the aftermath of transformation, so that will be the theme of this contest. How will the character’s changes affect their friends, family, or significant other? Will they have to buy new clothes? Learn to live a new lifestyle? Do they come to terms with their transformation or fight it? There's a lot to explore!

Entries due by: April 30 end of day
Length: 900 words minimum, no hard maximum.
Prizes: First place will win $55 via Paypal.
Aftermath: 60%-100% of your story must take place after the initial transformation. I will also allow entries where the transformation process takes a very long time (days, weeks, longer), allowing the story to focus on things other than active process descriptions.
Submission limit: one entry per person.

To enter, post a new story on an online gallery, and put a link back to this submission in the description. Then send me a note with the subject “Aftermath April” containing a link to the entry. I don’t care what site you post the story on, but it must be in a public online gallery (sofurry, furaffinity, tumblr, docs-lab, etc are all acceptable).

Judging will be done by me alone. I will judge based on the quality of the writing, how interesting and integrated the ideas in the story are, and how well the story fits the theme of the challenge (aftermath / long process).

Stories can be SFW or adult. I will also not judge based on the length of story, but keep in mind it can be hard to maintain a high level of quality in a long story. Shorter entries are not penalized, but neither are longer entries if the size seems justified.

I will announce the winner shortly after the contest closes for entries, and each and every entry will get a participation award (e.g. “Best Use of Whipped Cream”, “Best Dressed”). The grand prize winner will win $55.

If you do not have a paypal, you can also have me send the money to someone else (perhaps an artist you have commissioned or your favorite charity) within one month of the contest winners being announced. If the prize goes unclaimed for a month, I will award it to second place.

I guarantee I will pay out the prize for this contest as long as I get at least a single entry. Feel free to post a link to your entry below or ask questions!
