It irks me that I feature dragons as a key element in my storyline, but I suck at drawing them... guess it's time to start learning.

Big enough to squash a house but not to step on you without noticing :) Tora's probably in the middle of the scale. Not sure if I'm following the D&D trope that dragons never stop growing, hence the oldest being most enormous, or whether it's more random, but there's definitely a range.
If I can beat myself into it, I'll do a few studies to try to solidify my thinking. I see earth dragons as being much thicker and heavier, air dragons much leaner and more whippet-like, and water dragons as a little stumpier with long tails (kind of otter-shaped, really...) Fire dragons as above are kind of middle of the range because I really have no clue what physique to associate them with :P

As I am currently playing Monster Hunter World it is having a rather massive influence on my view of creatures. You say earth dragon, I think of Barroth basically a big bone plated t-rex that lives in the mud. Air dragon would be kushala daora that matches what your description. Water dragon would be jyro, he is like a dragon eel. Fire dragon is Teostra, kinda manticor fiery Griffin dragon thing.... I think I have been playing too much.
