So this is the last chapter for now until next month. Most likely I'll do two again.

From the Past
Nicholas and Shine were able to see as there was another window to let in the light. "Just stay close to me," the fosky said. "Who knows what could be in here."
"I'm still scared," the vixen whispered.
"I'm right here. Nothing will happen to you."
She nodded with a smile. That's when they heard it again. It was that whispering sound. But this time it was stronger, and almost sounded like music. It happened again as the two looked down the hallway. There was only one path. "Time to find out what's causing it," the male said.
The two walked a short way and turned a corner. As they got closer, they noticed a light yellow glow getting stronger. They rounded the corner and saw what was causing it. It was a floating orb of light. Shine took a step back. "Am I… going crazy?" she asked.
"I don't think so; I see it to," he replied.
Suddenly they noticed a shape of some kind beginning to form where the orb was. They could make out arms of some kind. To their shock it was the exact same ones of the priestess from the statue they had seen. The only difference is that they saw color and the arms were just like Shine's. The fosky and vixen saw the right paw beckon them to follow. "I don't know if we should follow," she whispered in fear. "And I'm suppose to believe there are really ghosts and spirits?"
"There are many forces at work in our world that we can't understand. People have reported seeing and hearing noses from ghosts and spirits before. That's why I don't disbelieve in them. And not all bring bad luck. Just like my gut is telling me right now that it's okay."
Shine noticed her gut was telling her the same thing. Except there was more to that. The duo took a few steps forward and noticed the orb with arms stopped beckoning them and moved. Now it was obvious whatever it was wanted them to follow. And a tiny bit more of the orb turned into features. The beginnings of a tail appeared. Nicholas and Shine continued to follow the orb, but now they thought it was a ghost of some kind. It was then down a flight of stairs. At the bottom, they noticed more pictures showing a hidden part of the story to the priestess. They saw her looking to be fully grown. The duo saw the vixen looking up to what appeared to be a figure descending down from the sky. The next set showed the two face to face, with the second person being a male and having the appearance of a fox with wings.
"What is this suppose to mean?" Shine asked.
"I don't know what," Nicholas answered. "But if it's true… this means someone magical appeared before her."
The two looked down and saw the ghost still waiting for them. It then pointed at a section it was next to. The fosky and vixen walked up and saw it was another picture to continue the story. They saw the winged male and the priestess together, showing the two in love and of her receiving her staff from him. "So this explains how she got her weapon," Nicholas commented.
Shine didn't say anything but looked closer. The fuzziness in her head was becoming a bit clearer. But still nothing as of yet could be seen. Just very quick flashes. The fosky then touched her on the shoulder to notice the ghost was beckoning them forward again. The two continued to walk down the hallway, not even needing flashlights as the light coming from this being was bright enough. The two continued to follow the spirit, noticing that as they did so, slowly more features could be seen. The tail got longer and feet began to form. The ghost then stopped at the next set of paintings. The two following the being saw it showed the male and the priestess marrying that male and even having kids.
"This wasn't on the paintings we saw back there," Shine stated. "We only saw her looking like she was going to be married and the kids. But not of her husband."
"Perhaps these were hidden away," Nicholas commented. "Maybe we'll learn when we reach the end."
The ghost kept them going, up a flight of stairs this time that went pass windows that were open, but too small to crawl through. At least it allowed a breath of fresh air. The two noticed as they continued to follow more and more features of the ghost could be seen. The duo began to have a suspicious of who it was. Finally though the ghost reached an archway that was blocked. The being was still too bright to fully make out the upper body and face. The ghost went right through the archway. Nicholas noticed there was another hole and inserted the key into it. This showed it was another perfect fit. The wall blocking it moved downward, revealing a chamber just beyond it. The vixen and fosky made their way in. They noticed it was a rounded room with four pillars. Right in the middle was a stone coffin with designs on it. At the far end was another doorway.
Nicholas and Shine couldn't believe it. "This… this must be her resting place," the male said and they both took a step forward. Suddenly the ghost emerged from the coffin except this time all the features could be seen. It was the priestess, with the exact fur, hair, and eye color as Shine. Even the flower in the hair along with earrings were the same. The only thing missing were any tattoos.
"So you finally came," she said, her voice echoing and ringing a bit like music. Her form flickered from solid to transparent. Nicholas and Shine had their mouths open, not sure what to make of this. "I knew you would."
"You are…" the male whispered.
"Yes. When I was alive I was the priestess that this temple was built for. Now all that is left is my spirit that has waited. Ish is my name. And no, I really am here."
"Then there are such things as ghosts," Shine said softly.
"I'm not quiet a ghost," Ish commented. "I have no malicious purpose as some do."
"Then what is it?" the second vixen asked. "How come we look so much alike? And why… why the hell do I feel like I've been here before?"
"That I can answer. Please… come closer." Nicholas and Shine did so. The spirit of Ish floated forward and her right paw came out, actually touching the second vixen who flinched but then relaxed as it was a warm feeling. The spirit female smiled before pulling back. "Now then… as you saw on the paintings of this temple, you saw my life in this land. Like my mother, I to took up the role of a priestess. While much loved by my people I in turn felt a loneliness. None of them seemed the right male, the right person for me. But then one day I looked to the sky and saw what appeared to be an angel descending down."
"He landed, a male taller than me with wings. And… I fell in love with him at first sight. I knew he was the one for me. I learned that he had come because of evil that would invade our land. And then he gave me the second greatest gift of all after his love. My staff which you've seen on that statue and in the paintings. Using it as a weapon and as a status of my role we were able to repel it. Then two years passed after that and we were married. And the final of the gifts that I always treasured was our children. When I was laid to rest I knew I couldn't fully pass on to be with him. So with a spell of magic I've been able to protect and preserve my spirit for thousand of years until this day would come."
Nicholas and Shine were silent. She was getting over the shock, but he was just thinking. "Is it really possible?" the living vixen asked.
"You ask that after seeing spirits are real?" the male commented. "At this point, nothing should surprise you."
"I wasn't sure myself," Ish said. "But my husband was something else. However we didn't let that stand in our way. In turn he made me grow stronger myself, even taking me to his home in the clouds. However he to is laid to rest here even if his spirit had moved on since he can come to this physical living realm to see me."
As soon as these words were spoken, a section on the wall to the right moved, revealing a resting place. A male wrapped in bandages with ears pointed to show it was a canine was revealed. And there were wings on him, wrapped up as well. "Our children would go on to rule and lead in our steed. However, like all empires and kingdoms, ours fell as well. But I have been watching and waiting, knowing you would come. Which is why the key used to unlock the inner part of where me and my husband lie would be hidden until it found its way into the right paws."
Nicholas then stepped up to the coffin. "I understand," he said.
"You do?" Shine asked uncertainly, coming up to him.
The fosky with a grunt moved the lid off the coffin. And there inside, was the body of Ish, her staff on top of her crossed arms, body wrapped like her husband. In that moment, the living vixen went silent, her eyes falling onto the staff. Her right paw slowly reached out to touch it. The second it did, the female was struck with what felt like a bolt of energy. In her mind the vixen saw the fuzziness sharpen and become memories. That of being the priestess, of seeing the male who came from the sky looking so much like Nicholas, of fighting off the evil. Shine then yelped and let go of the staff, falling to the floor on her feet and hands.
The female felt sweat on her body and was breathing hard. Nicholas and the spirit of Ish were looking at her. "What was that?" the living female asked, almost to the point of crying. "I shouldn't have touched that."
"That is why you've come here," the dead priestess stated. "To regain the memories you had when you were me. My staff calls to you, the reincarnation of me. Just as your friend is the same as my husband."
"No, I have to get out of here and back home to the life I have."
The spirit went forward and gently touched Shine's cheek. "My child," Ish said softly. "Under the circumstances I can understand why you would show disbelief. But I see your eyes. You already know. That life you once had… you can no longer go back." The living vixen closed her eyes, shedding a couple of tears. "But… there is another you could go to. What you seek is not behind you… it is ahead with the guy who came here with you. He will be the one to led you on that and to help with wielding the staff I had. Take it with you."
Shine broke away from the touch. "I'm never touching that thing again," she growled. "I don't want any part of this."
The living vixen ran out of the room. "SHINE!" Nicholas called after her. The two in this room saw her outline disappear. The fosky turned to Ish. "I'll go talk to her."
"Take my staff before you do," the spirit stated. The male went to it and grabbed it out of the coffin.
"So it finally returns to original paws," he whispered and ran after the female he loved (music stops).
Shine in the meantime made it to another big room and stopped. She leaned against a wall, gasping for breath, getting over the shock. "I don't want to be a part of this…" the female whispered.
The vixen then looked up and saw the area she was in which had pillars and two different exits. Shine realized she had left Nicholas behind. Just then the female heard footsteps and saw two beings emerge from one of the exits. They appeared to be two of the archeologists that had been at the camp. But the female could instantly tell something wasn't right and was on guard. "Oh look," the first one said. "Looks like we found her after being sent by Kilroy."
"Kilroy sent you?" Shine asked pleasantly but still wary. She knew that nobody else should be in this part since only Nicholas had the key. They had passed some other pathways along the way though while following Ish.
"Yes, now come with us," the second archeologist stated.
"I can't without Nicholas."
"Oh don't worry…" the first said and both got evil grins. "He won't be needed!"
They threw some kind of smoke bomb at the base of their feet, causing Shine to back up. When the smoke cleared she saw the two beings had changed into different garb. The clothing they wore were body suits colored dull red. A mask that was white and blank covered their faces with an upside triangle colored black was on it. They both wielding some kind of strange sickle like blade with a handle. "Now we'll take your life!" the second enemy stated.
Shine gulped, fearing this was the end as they two beings got closer. Suddenly she heard a familiar voice. "SHINE! CATCH!"
Turning her paws reached out just in time to catch Ish's staff. Nicholas had arrived. He saw the enemies and his teeth went to a snarl, his walking stick with the knife coming up and being held like a staff. Somehow in this moment Shine felt no fear and even felt she knew how to wield the staff that had been tossed to her. The two enemies moved in. The vixen seemed to loose any thought process and her body moved out of the way of a strike. She was dimly aware of Nicholas taking on the second opponent. The way the fosky moved was like a warrior and was able to keep up. Shine in the meantime kept moving and blocking her opponent's attacks, her staff a blur.
The enemies let out shouts and held up their left hand with the index and middle fingers up, the others curled in their palms. They disappeared in a puff of smoke only to emerge above the vixen and fosky. Shine and Nicholas were easily able to avoid their strike and came in with many of their own. Cuts appeared on the bodies's of the enemy while also being bruised from the blunt end of the weapons. "Damn you!" the first opponent snarled. "We have no choice but to retreat for now!" The two vanished in a puff of smoke (Music ends).
Shine was breathing hard and her awareness came back. "Wha… did I really? Did that just really happen?" she whispered.
The vixen looked to Nicholas who whipped the blood off the knife end of his weapon in silence before looking at her. "You okay?" he asked.
"I don't know…"
Suddenly the spirit of Ish appeared behind them. "You did well Shine…" the second vixen said.
"Ish," Nicholas commented, both living beings turning to her.
"Why is this happening?" Shine asked. "Who the hell were those things? How…?" The female bowed her head, tears coming out again. The fosky went over to her and she hugged him in comfit.
"Do you see now of what I said?" the spirit of Ish asked.
"I… I remember everything…" the living vixen whispered. "I remember my past life as you… I wish it wasn't but… I see now what I must do."
"Then go with my staff and my blessings. I will be watching over you. Finally I can pass on to be with my husband on the other side. Believe in yourself and everything will be fine. Especially since you have him with you."
The two watched Ish disappear with a smile on her face. Shine just silently handed the staff to Nicholas who easily found a way to collapse down to a much shorter length (Music comes to an end). The two didn't speak but walked down the hallway to the left. It then joined up with another path which looking back the exit to it was the right entrance from the room from before. Soon they were outside of the temple. The fosky just led the way back to the camp. Kilroy certainly was happy to see the two were alright. The she wolf asked what had been found. Nicholas just stated just more pictures which wasn't a lie, but not the full truth. He had hidden the compressed staff under his shirt since it was small enough to do so. The guy did however talk about the assassins which alarmed Kilroy. There wasn't anything else to be done about that however. Shine was just quiet the whole way back to her home, even on the flight. Nicholas however knew the time had come to tell her some things and take her off to a place that would be something so wonderful that the vixen would be blown away.
