I... okay I think you might be confused about what the day meant. In no way is it saying to treat trans people as more than human. It’s supposed to be a day to remind trans people that we ARE still people and that we also deserve to exist. It’s just a way for people to feel better about themselves after dealing with people the rest of the year trying to call us less than human, and it’s also a push back on those hateful people.
Yeah well that's the thing, no one else needs a day to remind people they exist..
and I mean no disrespect when I say this, but the problems I'm told trans people have are neither special or limited to trans people... and in some cases are complete exagerations. So when I say I don't feel comfortable treating trans people differently, in this case it's holding them to a higher standard then anyone else.

If you’re around on twitter, there are days of gay visibility, days that encourage black and Latinx visibility, etc.
They’re being allowed to be seen. How is that wrong?
Also, if all the problems you know of are just ones you’ve been told, how do you know they’re exaggerations? People are disowned. People are attacked. People are killed. There are enough actual accounts of this happening that they’re not exaggerations.

Because it's discrimination all the same. I certainly don't want to be treated any different because of what I am. And yes, what you day is true, but none of whicb are exclusive to trans people... which is my biggest problem. You exclude any other victim of these situations because you're trans and that somehow makes things different. I'd rather have a bullying awareness and suicide awareness day then a day dedicated tk transgender people existing or suicide survivors day, the later of which I am one.
It’s not discrimination to tell someone they deserve to be treated with respect.
There have been days on twitter that were dedicated towards women and towards queer artists, and I absolutely loved both, and I am both female and gay. (Very slightly off topic, but an example)
These are all a very real way of making people feel valid in who and what they are. It’s a way to let people know they aren’t alone in the way they feel. It’s encouraging and supportive and wonderful.
There are bullying and suicide awareness days. Events, movies, talks. They exist. Why can’t other things exist alongside them?
If you genuinely can’t wrap your head around the necessity of these days, don’t get involved. Don’t tell people they’re wrong for appreciating these sources of solidarity and support. It’s not about you, and your opinion isn’t helping anyone.

Yes it is, if you're telling them that just because they're trans. You're saying that they deserve more because they're born a certain way. Not to mention nothing will change if you keep treating trans people like they're different then any other human. I can't make that any more clear.
They are getting a day where they’re told they matter
Not that they’re better. Not that you don’t matter. Just that they deserve to be seen. That they’re valid.
I don’t understand how that’s wrong.
Honestly? I don’t think any trans person wants to be treated differently than a normal person. I think they want the same rights, and the same respect. It’s other people that won’t let him have that, and that’s why days like these need to exist.

It needs to exist because trans individuals are very regularly treated as less than human. That’s the problem.
Let people have nice things. Let people have a day where they’re looked at in a positive light.
This mindset is exactly why you’ve been called a hater, if trans people being seen in a positive light makes you uncomfortable.

Truth be told, I think that's a complete exageration. Now I know I wouldn't personally know, but the highest degree transgender bigotry I've seen is mean comments from people on the internet... and having friends who are trans... and a girlfriend who's also trans, I feel quite confident in saying that trans people aren't completely treated as subhuman, because all of their lives are going fine.
the ones you’ve seen personally are fine, so all trans lives are fine? You are wrong, and you are being very close minded.
There is a reason people fight so hard to be seen. There is a reason suicide rates are so high. There is a reason this day needs to be a thing at all.
They are absolutely treated as subhuman, even by people in the lgbt+ community. There are people that mock them and are even pushing hard to get the “t” dropped.
Just because all you see is rude comments on the internet doesn’t mean that’s all that’s happening.

No, I'm saying that people can be trans and have good lives. And people can not be trans and still suffer. Where's our.day to all people who've been killed, assaulted, disowned, etc? We don't have one... why not? What makes trans people any different from other people that suffer those same problems? Why should we focus on the victim instead of the crimes? I think that's the part that appalls me the most... these issues aren't specific to trans people... so the other victims are cast aside because they're not special enough or something.
What makes their lives different is the rate at which it happens.
Yes, cisgender people are also killed and disowned and suffer. It’s life. I absolutely agree, but not for the same reasons or at the same rate.
We’re focusing on the victims because they are here. They are people. They deserve to be seen, and they deserve to be loved, and the crimes and the problem are happening on such a large scale and so often that we can focus on the victims. We know why they’re being attacked. We know we can support them, we know we can love them. We know we can make them feel like the people that they are, and not the less than human monsters that deserve death that their victimizers want them to be seen as.
The other victims are not being set aside. No one is being told they’re more or less special. If someone is murdered, it is murder. That’s where we’re trying to get to. People need to be treated the same. That’s the whole point.
Trans individuals aren’t treated the same. That’s the problem. These are days that allow them to be seen as people.
If you look at the posts people are putting up on twitter? They’re just?? Pictures of themselves. Pictures of their lives. Stories of themselves, what they do, their interests and loves. They’re using this as an opportunity to show the world that they are, in fact, people.

Hey uh, you're not trans, you're not allowed to have a say in how trans people's life quality is. Ever have a gun pointed at your face for being trans? No just me? Mhm. Ever been reduced to words like "trap" because people think you're trying to trap them into having sex with them? No? Didn't think so. Or how about people ACTUALLY SAYING you're less than human for not conforming to your socially acceptable sex? But please, keep telling me, an actual trans person with these experiences who knows MANY OTHER TRANS PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR EXPERIENCES, that ALL our lives are going just absolutely fine.
Have you ever had a gun pointed at your face just because you walked down the street at the wrong place and wrong time? If I'm to believe you, yes. But where's my day? Where's my celebration? Your problems aren't exclusively trans and I don't need to go to the sun to know it's hot.
I've been cast aside like literal trash, picked up and thrown to the side, I've had people joke about me being a school shooter and about my attempted suicide. But you don't need to be me to sympathise.
I'm saying your life can be fine. I don't know if you're.surrounding yourself with the wrong people, reading to many things online, or what... but I can ensure you that not even a majority of people are hateful bigots.

Hey, fuck off. People like you are the reason this day exists.
And imo can someone delete this thread lol this is just sad and gross and this person clearly is not ever going to listen, this should be about visibility for trans people, not visibility for the scumbags who don't want trans people to be visible
