Okay so one--I wasn’t quite intending to do this picture but since I said I wanted to do another carousel character,
Northern-Crosshair contacted me and said he wanted a commission with one, and since I needed a print, I thought back to an idea I had a while ago but hadn’t implemented--doing YCH commissions for pictures I’d otherwise use generic characters for.
So this is his donkey Jenny, and in the BG there is what I believe to be a brand new character for
TenPoundHammer he has named Rouse
Two--Again so I don’t miss it--the original inspiration for a carousel character came from this picture (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/26772679/) done by
carnival. I’ve seen other characters drawn as carousel horses though the vast majority of them have been, like, a bondage thing and not literal. Anyway Carnival is great and you should watch her if you haven’t.

It actually goes through her.
Don't worry, she isn't flesh and blood. As you can see by the shine, she's made of painted and polished wood.
I plan on using this as Jenny's "dream form". When she is asleep, this is the form she takes when she is dreaming. It let's me get away with silly ideas like this without having to worry about how they would work in real life.

Well in my mind there are two ways this works.
1. It's magic and the horses are free to move about on the pole. The harness and saddle adjust automatically as needed. So you'd go up to them and they would flip around for you to ride.
2. This is all in a dream. Same as above, the harness and saddle adjust automatically as needed and they can move the pole around as they want to. This is what I will be doing with Jenny. This will be the form she has when asleep and dreaming. She is an erotic dancer, so she will have plenty of fun with this form.

Does "adjust automatically as needed" mean continuously, discontinuously, or what? In particular, to go between this and right-side-up, does she have to come off the pole, instantly flip, or yaw (which is the rolling rotation, so that the pole takes any possible angle through only her torso)?
And regardless of need, how many of the three can she do?

As far as I am treating the concept, the harness would continually adjust as she moves herself about the pole, as it and the pole is a part of her body.
So she could roll and have the pole going through her side if she wanted to. Assuming for the moment that the pole is mounted to a carousel, she can freely move herself about the pole if she wants to. She can also "lock" herself in position if she wants to.
In this picture, for example, I imagine that she has "locked" herself to the pole so she can swing her legs high without having to worry about her torso twisting about the pole. Her hands arn't gripping the pole for stability and she is only running them along the pole to appear more alluring.
As far as the other two options you mentioned, I could understand someone choosing one of them if they wanted to pursue the idea in their own way.
Hope that answered your questions.

Excellent. I like the way you took a difficult pose and pulled it off. I like the feeling of life you gave her, even though she's fiberglass, not flesh. The idea of a carousel where the horses are living creatures is an old one- And kind of creepy, to boot. But I don't think anybody has ever done a "scareousel" story. Anyway, great work. PS- She's a pole prancer
Yes.
As Rick points out, it would be some form of magic that would give the character life and the ability to move about on the pole. The harness and saddle would adjust as needed automatically.
Or, in my case, it would just be a "dream form" that an existing character takes on when they are asleep and dreaming. Dreams don't have to make sense, so one can play with ideas like this.
