Ask somebody familiar with early space flight about the Gemini program, and they’ll probably mention rendezvous, docking, and extravehicular activity. They might forget to tell you that Project Gemini pioneered the use of fuel cells to generate electrical power plus a useful byproduct: water.
I focused on the plumbing up front. In retrospect, I wish I had focused on the placard instead, since I find my eye drawn more to that part of the photo.

I heard quite a long time ago that Mazda was working on a rotary engine that could burn either gasoline or hydrogen. I thought THAT was one cool concept. There are problems to overcome with storage, but I still think hydrogen is the answer, whether it drives a fuel cell like this or combusts in a mechanical engine. Existing gas stations could be upgraded to dispense hydrogen. So the infrastructure is nearly in place and the current fuel companies would feel less threatened. I dunno. I guess I'm a dreamer.
