To preemptively answer your question, there's a few reasons Ven didn't notice Rohan's eyes changing color at first. First, Rohan's eyes are already blue. Second, he's next to the campfire. Third, Ven and Rohan weren't looking each other directly in the eyes. And last, the chance was gradual and only really started to accelerate when Rohan starting thinking more about the enyo's emotional state. It wasn't until both of their eyes turned golden-yellow that it was clear something was happening.
So, I've got some stuff to do this week, which means you guys get this week's page a day early! Hope this comes as a fun surprise!
This was a tricky page to finalize the script on, as the original draft was a lot less clear on what was happening and the pacing was off. Pacing in particular has been a major focus for me on this comic. I feel the biggest mistakes I made on The Pokemorph Stories (OMGSHEMENTIONEDTHEOLDCOMIC) were the times when I rushed to the things I wanted to see without properly explaining the context, situation, and character motivations. Although the buildup has felt slow to me, I have to keep remembering not to push too far ahead all at once. That being said... as you can see, the ball has decidedly started rolling now. >w<
I had a LOT of fun drawing Rohan and the enyo on this page. In spite of how long-winded my comic pages often are, I'm still a fan of visual narrative, and I liked showing their interaction with each other and with Ven. <3

I think I understand the species now. They seek an entity they can bond to who has a similar thought process. If their brainwaves match, then they seek out that victim/person to merge with, thus forming the new entity. My theory is that those darker ones deemed demons killed their host bodies first, so they wouldn't have to worry about their host's mind interfering when they merged. This little Enyo is different, though. One, it's white, and two, it appears to be sensitive and gentle. And considering how it bonded so easily with this young man, I would assume that means it also has a kindly and honorable spirit, with a desire to protect the innocent.
