I assume he's using some sort of low temperature propellant. I actually intentionally drew the jetpack trail as something smokey instead of fiery because... y'know, tails are flammable. x3

Great...that made me just imaging some military organization docking furries's tails so they can use more powerful jetpacks.

I've had a similar idea before for astronauts. Space suits are bulky and awkward enough without having to accommodate a tail - it's within plausibility that, at least in early stages of space exploration, it would be seen as simpler and safer to remove the tail and so reduce the volume, weight and potential points of failure for the suit. Depending upon the species. Rat tails can just tuck up inside.

Makes sense, though I pity anyone having to do that. Losing a tail even under modern medicine and painkillers could not possibly be 'fun'.
