Well, "Fred The Sadistic Ghost" actually went over a little better than I expected it to; it was actually faved by one FA denizen. This surprised me a little bit, but hey, I'll take 'em any way I can get 'em lol! So, here's another one I hope you'll enjoy. Like "Fred", "The Undead" is taken from "We're Alive!!!", the album I recorded with my brother and my friend Jesse in 1989 under the name 'The Other Guys'. I won't waste a lot of time writing about it... it's just a moody little piece about burying someone alive lol. That's what the title refers to-- not "undead" as in zombies, but "undead" as in not dead. Not yet, anyway (heh heh heh).
There's kind of a funny part at around 2:01... right before that, you hear all three of us yell "Pull the dirt over you!". We were only supposed to do this once, but my brother started to repeat the chorus, and he ends up yelling "Pull the dirt!" again, by himself, until he realizes that neither Jesse nor I am joining him lol. It's kinda like when Homer Simpson keeps singing the Monorail Song after everyone else has stopped, and then he realizes it and is like, "D'oh!" lol. You can almost hear me start to crack up as I try to save the take by completing the line. My brother also sings my favorite line in the song, "Corpses abound!" lol.
"The Undead" (5:07)
Written and recorded summer 1989
me - vocals, keyboards
Bill D. - guitar, additional vocals, additional keyboards
Jesse H. - drums, additional vocals
Outside these gates are the living
Inside these gates are the dead
Two sets of footsteps enter sacred ground
Final resting places for tired, lonely souls
(Corpses abound!)
My face is locked in a death-mask...
(Corpses abound!)
So lie down in this open grave and
PULL THE DIRT! PULL THE DIRT! PULL THE DIRT OVER YOU!!!
PULL THE DIRT-- over you!
No one remembers you
You dug your grave, now lie in it
No roses lie at your gravestone
No one to weep tears into the dirt
You're the unnamed, unloved, undead
Undead
Undead
So lie down in this open grave and
PULL THE DIRT! PULL THE DIRT! PULL THE DIRT OVER YOU!!!
PULL THE DIRT! PULL THE DIRT! PULL THE DIRT OVER YOU!!!
PULL THE DIRT! PULL THE DIRT! PULL THE DIRT OVER YOU!!!
PULL THE DIRT! PULL THE DIRT! PULL THE DIRT OVER YOU!!!
