While exploring one day Gaines stumbled upon a new species of Hemipteran (true bug). Eager to categorize the new species he promptly plopped down in front of them to start taking notes on morphology. There he sat for hours just tediously taking notes and scribbling down bits of information, how they ate, what they were eating, wing structure if one were to fly off, coloration variance. Anything that would help his catalog of insects grow.
