It was pure luck that the human man had stumbled upon Erin’s burrow just as she got home from a night of unsuccessful foraging. The hunting had been bad that autumn and this human was just what she needed to make it through hibernation. Foolishly, as hedgehursts like herself were a known danger in the area, the human knelt closer to her, probably thinking she was a rare “blonde” hedgehog. True, she was blonde, but she was a hedgehurst, larger and smarter than a true hedgehog, with forepaws that could function as hands and an appetite for larger game than her size would suggest. The human reached out to touch her, and, opening wide, she took his hand into her mouth. In shock, the human barely struggled until her jaws were near his shoulder. By then, it was too late. Every time he tried to pry her off of him, he managed to stick himself on her spines, the pain distracting him long enough for her to widen her gape to envelop his head. Relentlessly, she swallowed more and more of the man, her stomach bulging to an absurd size as the two foot long creature devoured a man nearly six feet tall. As his legs slid down her throat, Erin felt her belly rest against the ground, her legs unable to reach it due to her distended stomach. Finally, the last bits of the man were sealed away in her stomach. Now it was simply a matter of waiting for enough to digest that she could crawl into her burrow and hibernate.

A render I did late last year but didn't think to post here until now. I'm fairly happy with my 3D work, as well as the short story above, but I wish I had had a better image to use as a backdrop, or better yet a 3D set. The photo backdrop is slightly jarring against the 3D art and the details of the image don't mesh too great with the effect I wanted in some places.
