Oh jeebis I had one of those, never could power it correctly and it had alot of rust and problems, there was some other rack equipment with it I never figured out, some kind of frequency counter thing and a bunch of other little hollow boxes with transformers in them that looked like they mounted in the same rack at one time, lol who the hell uses those anymore? mine was from the early 50s O.o

I now have that radio in a rack with a SSB adapter. Though havn't got them setup yet.

"Tock - tock - tock - tock - t'tock - BLAAAAAT!" Neither as relaxing or as entertaining as the picture suggests, but whatever floats your boat I suppose.

I've never used a Collins, but surely it has a variable BFO? That's how we used to listen to SSB on old Hallicrafters receivers. It needs careful tuning, but it works.

hehe, yeah, it has a variable BFO, however, the military wanted that SSB adapter for some reason. It has the ability to extract and listen to each sideband and output each one on two separate channels simultaneously. Just perfect for Kahn AM stereo format... however its no longer used.

Makes about as much sense as most things the military does, but ok, that explains it.

heh... It was a special piece, for a special someone. So, I took more time than I would otherwise.
I really need to draw more.

Yesterday I drew about 18 sketches... and thats about 16 more than I have in at least 3 years.
So, all this talk about being rusty--- well, yes indeed I'm rusty, but its more than just a color in my fur! :P
