Conner tries telling himself that he'll politely take his leave at the end of November before he winds up too heavy to waddle out of the door... at this rate, he'll be spending a whole year with the Foxwoods! It hadn't been cheap, but it's worth every minute. Easily three times the raccoon he'd been in the spring, Conner had put on enough weight to make even a chilly midwestern winter feel like a summer's day.

Just how big he's grown is made quite apparent one morning when he and Caleb try to squeeze past one another in a hallway that seems to have grown noticeably narrower this past month, only to find themselves wedged belly to belly, with the perfect excuse for a moment of mutual girth appreciation.

Lost in a too-comfortable hug, Conner assures Caleb that he'll be staying for Christmas.
