To be quite honest, I love the mixture of multiple medias in this pic. It gives it a far more better feel than if you did it all in one style. It adds a form of realism & perspective whilst giving a great dimension on their placement. I this to be a most compelling piece of art from you, Gibs.

Believe it or not, those gals actually do make it out alive. That pictures from a period in Jack's life when he was staying at a ski resort, and used to challenge himself to see how close he could get to the guests before they'd notice him. The girls in the pic are pretty oblivious, so they would've been in serious trouble if he'd been actively hunting.
The book this scene is from is slated for publication at FC, so I'll make an announcement of that when it's available.

I just watched the recent remake of "The Time Machine". The pivotal scene is where the scientist is proposing to his fiance in the park only to get interrupted by a robber hiding in the trees. Jack could be that robber, coming out to "join in the conversation". But then one of the kids would go back in time only for Jack to keep annoying them in infinite variations.
And for a totally silly tangent: I think Joe Flaherty was on Saturday Night Live for a spoof of "The Time Machine" where he's Abe Lincoln who somehow gets the Time Machine and keeps going back in time trying to kill John Wilkes Booth to avoid the assassination, but he keeps flubbing his attempts which only pisses off Booth enough to essentially GUARANTEE that the assassination will occur in the future! As a programmer, I could see your fabulous Dream Machine creating a few time loops and temporal disturbances, torturing your humble narrator (Jack Salem) with similar instant-replays a-la Ground Hog Day 'till he goes STARK RAVING MAD!

It means i forgot to reread my comments!
Gimmie some slack...how many years ago was this picture? It actually illustrates something from a text story I wrote where he would try to see how close he could get to people without them noticing him, as sort of an exercise in stealth.
But the image taken alone, without any backstory, the fate of the girls was meant to be ambiguous.
