Even harder still when the tail has a mind of its own. Tails that just operate by themselves on reflex, you can manage. But a sentient tail?

Tail: *brushes at the back of her head*
Skunk: "No. We're not going out."
Tail: *swishes back and forth going 'wiff wiff wiff'*
Skunk: "Stop it. I'm trying to get our taxes done."
Tail: *tickles under her nose*
Skunk: "I said stop it! These are due next Friday! And let me remind you, it's YOUR fault I can't go to an accountant with them!"
Tail: *sad slump*
Skunk: "Oh. . . You are so NOT sorry. Be damned if I'm going to fall for that one again."

I do like the idea of an intelligent tail "arguing" with its owner. I have so many skunkette preds that this one may not get a lot of screen time but I'll keep your ideas in mind and have some more of my own already. 83

How do you tail a diet?

Put a hair net over it so it can't eat peopke?

I already look for hair nets design for meat eating tails but I found nothing.
