The second commission for my aunt is another of her sons. She wanted him drawn as a tiger, and specifically requested that the piece look like this one that I had already done.
I tried to base it off some pictures we found of him on his facebook, while retaining the spirit of the original and incorporating the flat colours.
Have I mentioned I hate doing lettering? Well, I hate doing lettering. Because doing straight or precisely curved lines suuucks. But these things have prominent names and signatures. So since this piece (unlike the one of the subject’s brother) involved no digital work to use as an excuse to just print the darn letters, I improvised: used a ruler and an exacto knife to cut a stencil, traced the inside of each letter, then carefully filled in the lines.
Results: not terrible, but not my best work either.
Still! Tigers are always fun to draw. All those stripes to go wild on. And I think overall this one came out well!
