Way Too In Character (By Rebecca Immelmann, 2014)
Commission I got from immelmann featuring her old male wolfrabbit self with regular old me.
This came about for two reasons. One, around this time I first heard about a Mass Effect tabletop game that Rebecca and a few other people at her old home in Boston played, and the story that always comes up is she was playing a Krogan and got so angry in-character that she threw a chair across the room out-of-character. That story always makes me wish I could've been there, and could be there with a fair chunk of my current group I do tabletop with over the internet, to do tabletop in real life!
Two, this was about when the wolfrabbit form of Rebecca's was going to officially be retired as her default self in favor of the old similarly-colored-at-the-time raptor. It made me really sad, because the wolfrabbit version of Immelmann had been the one I'd known for 7 years at that point, what I had always imagined this person as being, the representation of the person I had been friends with and beyond, and now it was all changing and going away.
So, as both a means to "join in" on that story and as a tribute and last hurrah for this wolfrabbit version, I commissioned this. It's me and Rebecca playing our own little Mass Effect tabletop, complete with miniatures of our characters. If some of those miniatures look familiar, well, I uploaded this drawing of the Volus and his LOKI mech almost a month ago (time flies) and mentioned this very picture in that one's description. Prophecy has been fulfilled.

Besides loving the pic and how in character you can get that darn story resonates. I've gotten depressed on a few occasions when someone switches avs after I've come to know them one way. Though in those cases I had only known the people briefly and have sense drifted apart, I imagine this particular case would of hit a lot harder had it been someone I'd met and known actively for 7 years. Wouldn't help that I loved the wolf/rabbit, flipping adorable.
