Comm - Learning Rock Climb
Stream Coloured Commission for
falloutcoyote
Brendan steeled himself as he stared from the bottom of the daunting plateau wall, he wasn't really prepared for a long climb ahead. He already kicked himself for not buying the Rock Climb TM from the Mart two towns back, and he wasn't prepared to backtrack through the field full of Skarmory just to buy one expensive move.
"Looks like we're doing it the old fashion way." Brendan whispered to his team of Pokéballs affixed to his belt, not wanting to risk waking up the Zubat deeper inside while climbing. "You guys hang tight."
Gripping the rock grooves and small ledges tightly, he began his climb, he made quick progress about a quarter way up the slope, but the danger began to intensify as the climb became more and more vertical.
Brendan was sweating a lot. He had brought his best gear to tackle the cave, hiking boots, slim fitting clothes, lightly packed bag. But the pressure on his muscles was slowly building. He wasn't sure why, but he could feel sharp pains in his toes, and especially his lower back with every inch he climbed. He wanted to stop and take a breath, but there were no ledges big enough that he could sit down safely.
"Halfway there, we can do this." Brendan thought aloud. The rock brushed loudly against his soles as he obliviously ignored the tearing noises from his boots, allowing the sharp claws to escape and breath free against the rock footing. Brendan just kept climbing unaware however, Soon he'd be close to a good place to stop and take a break.
But then he got stuck.
Brendan stretched out his arms, trying to reach for a safe ledge to grip, but it was just an inch too far. He begged the wall to cut him some slack, trying his hardest to extend his reach. However the response he got from his movement was not what he had expected. Instead he heard the loudest fabric tearing ever begin to echo throughout the cave, his pants had torn clean in half. Brendan finally looked back down in a panic at the source. Aside from seeing how high up he was and feeling dizzy from the height, he felt a drop in the pit of his stomach at the sight of it. A long slender bright red appendage dangled from his lower backside, swaying with his own movements, with a tip covered in a bright yellow flame that began to light up the whole cave wall. He could feel the warmth radiate against his new clawed toes, which had also gained a layer of red scales that continued to climb up his legs.
"W-why do I...what Is this?!" Brendan's voice squeaked out, unable to comprehend his situation. He couldn't stop though, he had to keep climbing to get to that rest stop. He reached back up toward the next outcropping, as his hand changed in front of him, growing out a bit larger as claws pushed out of his nails. Almost out of instinct, he used his new claw to scratch out a small groove in the rocks, doing the same with his new feet. Allowing him to reach up higher. Brendan breathed out a sigh of relief, uttering an exhausted "Chaaarr~" the word felt so natural coming out of his own mouth it scared him.
The closer he got to the rest point, the faster his changes seemed to progress, Already he felt a long red stubby horn pushing from his skull, which he had tried to hold back with a claw on his hat, instead it decided to tear right through that as well. As Brendan's shirt began to mimic the fate of his pants, he felt his bag begin to slip off his arm as he reached back to feel the holes in his shirt. In a quick motion he caught one bag strap with his claw, unintentionally ripping it. Managing just barely to save the bag with one of his free legs as he caught the other strap. A few of his spare items fell out though, and began to litter the cave floor.
The Charmeleon let out another heavy "Chaaaaar~" as he finally reached the top. His old clothing had all fallen in tatters, perhaps to be picked up by a wild pokémon for their nest. As he stood there, he felt his mind grow foggy, unsure of why he had climbed up in the first place. Sniffing around for food, he headed toward the light signalling the exit nearby. Perhaps he'd find some fresh berries nearby?
