Who can say exactly how the dragon ended up as he did. A prank gone wrong? Meeting the wrong mythical creature or magic user in the woods? A potions accident? Still, it seems he had enough time to try and react to his fate before he ended up stone, and stone he has stayed, outdoors long enough that the moss has started to grow and claim him, new green covering over his formerly green body.
