These are finally 100% done! This is our only gauntlet larger than a medium with steel scales, and our first gauntlet with spikes attached to it!
The lovely own of these is our ever loyal significant other AND primarily model for our knitted jinglies. He has earned the special privilege of being the only owner of our larger steel projects. They are at a very high risk of needing constant matienance so that is why we do not offer steel on custom commission basis.
The weight is not the problem, although these are a few pounds heavier than our aluminum full wraps. The holes which the scales are punches with are quite different. The aluminum and plastic scales' punch are quite smooth and rarely rarely sharp enough to cut through yarn. It usually takes a lot of force and effort to cut through the yarn we use, but if you're purposely trying to cut the yarn, our stuff is not for you. The steel scales' punch hole, however, is very sharp. You can virtually pull the scale and with a touch of brute force, rip through that yarn quite easily. This is why we tend to not use steel scales on our products, and if we do, it's on small items only.
Due to the steel punch being so sharp, we have made this gauntlet with double stranding the yarn to act almost like a buffer. Our significant other has not tore through any of these yet, but a few of his XL steel scales on his tail have needed to be reattached, which is quite easy if you're familiar with yarn. This is his tail for reference. It just passed its 1 year birthday! http://www.furaffinity.net/view/23221988/
As always, the scales are from theringlord.com, hand knit together by us. The spikes are 3 inch custom colored rubber from Dream Vision Creations. These weigh 2-3 pounds per arm but most of the weight is taken by the machine sewn in elastic band near the elbow. Took roughly 20 hours to make total. Large full wrap gauntlets typically take us about 10-12 hours per arm when working with aluminum or plastic.
Thanks for reading!

**If you're interested in making your own stuff, we kindly ask you to not request us to teach you. There are basic tutorials online for weave based scalemail. We have created our very own techniques for everything and are not too keen on sharing for awhile.
