Gorgeous! Truly gorgeous. Notice that the strings behind the purple ones are more a pink-ish shade than the ones in front of the green? Could something have been refracting or filtering the light before it hit them? Otherwise you have an interesting puzzle here.

Ah! I actually have an explanation for that now. Dig.... it's actually an artifact of how a CCD chip is constructed and how it detects the light. It has to do with how some light is focusing towards the back of the chip, and some towards the front, or something like that. Heh. Don't press me for details! In any case, it ain't a light effect, it's a chip artifact effect.

Well I'll be darned. Anyway, now that you know the artifact's there, you can use it deliberately! (Not sure when you'd get the chance, though.)

I've no doubt I'm gonna get something sometime from this shot. Must make sure the black is jet black in any prints.

when i was in art school they used to tell us to carry a piece of black foam core or board with us in the field when shooting in case such things presented itself. perhaps something to try later.
