Sometimes I worry about my parenting abilities. Am I really the best person for her. Do I love her enough? Am I good enough for her?
I feel broken a little on the inside. I love my daughter, don't get me wrong, but I don't know how to be the best I can be all the time. Why don't kids come with a book, an operations manual for "Name goes here".
I'll never give up, but I still don't feel up to par.

I dont know you so bare with me. For you to say things like that, that you dont know if you will become a good mother for your daughter, I believe that you will. My father wasn't the greatest person in the world. I'm worried that I won't be a good father if that little bundle of pink skin falls into my lap but I think I would be a great father. Keep up the great work, mothers and fathers need to be the role models for our future generations. You will do great.
If kids game with instruction manuals, what will the fun be for missing all those great moments like the first word, first step, and graduation from college. Be mindful of what little blessings kids can be, they are a pain sometimes, but they are a joy to be around. You'll miss them when they finally leave the home to start their new life outside of your home. That is a success.

I can speak from experence. Though we've only talked breefly a few times your a better parent then you give yourself credit for. My dad grew up with step dads most of his live. (He was about 7 when my grandfather died) And he only got along with one of them and he came after he didn't need a father figure anymore. Now my dad worried that he didn't make a good father figure because he didn't have one. But he raised me right. I may be lazy and play alot of games. But I never touched the more dangerous stuff untiall I was old enough to make decsions for my self. (I've tried pot once when I was 19 and didn't care for it and I will never touch other drugs) I don't smoke. And I rarly drink. Like maybe once or twice a year. My point with this is even if you don't feel your a good mother for Barra. You are her best choice and one day it will show.
you madam. worry too much.
besides, if there WERE a manual, It'd be written in Korean. or space alien.
OR Korean space alien with accents of esparanto! *shudders*
I think, it's at times like this, when you just sit there and wonder if you're doing the best for your child.. is when the best parts of you come out. she's safe, secure, fed and she'll NEVER want for love.. after all, aren't they the most important things?

I'd say from personal experience of watching you and Barra, even when you were on the verge of passing out from flu exhaustion and cough syrup overdose you were a pretty darn good mother.
You're working under incredibly trying circumstances, and doing a good job of it, I might add. So you get mad props as an artist and a mom.
Swear I love your expression in this piece though; it's like saying "Oh, you think you're really going to get up to mischief huh? Well I'm right here watching you lovable monkey."

I really like the effect created by the penciled background and inked foreground. It helps focus the attention where it belongs. As for your concearns you have the most important criteria for being a good mom, you love her more than anything else in the world, so anything you do for her will always have her best interests at heart.
that questions you ask yourself have askd billions of parants before you eons back to the times where people started to think and for real... there is no real guideline or anything... be there for your child when it needs you... thats the best ya can do and taht is the best... give you child all your love
This might sound odd, but if you can ponder and question your capacity to be a good parent, you probably can and will be a good parent. My mother likely never doubted herself, and I'm still feeling the consequences for it. Oh, and yes, the drawing looks quite well drawn. For some reason, blue looks good in situations like these. Ah, blue. I like blue, dispite what a certain network's cartoon puppy did with it.
Daughter gets a kiss on the forehead and a hug. :)
Mom gets a hug and a lecture:
If you actually worry if you're doing it right, then you usually are doing it right.
It's the ones who never stop to ask themselves questions like this that get it wrong.
Also, manuals tend to be overrated, horribly written, and remind you of All Your Base.
That, or they're written like manpages, and are cryptically difficult to read. :)
Also: Easy way to tell if you're doing it right is if the kiddo comes up, hugs you(r leg) and says, "I love you, mommy."
