Basically the idea of this drawing started when I heard Shakira on the MP3 singing Waka Waka, the 2010 World Cup anthem.

And it just so happens that this year is another World Cup Year, so being a browser that I am, I see a few Zabivaka artworks since it's his year.

And then it hit me: The last few World Cup mascots have been anthros, and I am a fan of Zootopia, <i>the</i> anthro movie, and lastly, Shakira was Gazelle in Zootopia.

So thus this idea was born: Zakumi, 2010 World Cup's mascot, travelled to Zootopia to meet the celebrity who sang his anthem and asked for an autograph :)

Not very happy with how his hair turned up here; I guess I was trying too hard to emulate his hairstyle from his official FIFA portrait and the result in his Zootopified self just feels lacking. Oh well... And uh, I guess I admit Gazelle's stage outfit here is a bit strange. I ain't no Vera Wang after all =P Oh, lastly, my reason for not drawing Zakumi in his jersey is 1) 2010 Cup is already way over, 2) He's not playing football with Gazelle :D

Oh, yeah, I know Shakira also sang a song for 2014 World Cup, so if I'm not too distracted, I plan to also draw Fuleco with Gazelle some time in the future :)
