It (and the Escher's drawing) reminded me of a device invented a few years ago to facilitate cheating-proof online exams -- it has a camera and a mirror ball enabling almost 360 degree field of view. Also, reminds me of this: http://local.wasp.uwa.edu.au/~pbour.....xtremefisheye/
