"Is that what I think it is?" asked the eager Tak as the Iconian handed the glowing container to her.
"Yes, the missing piece to the spore drive, the spore canister. Careful with it, though, its acquisition proved expensive as I had to purchase a whole Crossfield-class just for it ; Ferengi aren't know for their generosity, after all." confirmed Savant L'Miren, both doing her calculations and keeping an eye on the prize.
Tak's erratic behavior had always clashed with L'Miren's methodic moves and it sometimes resulted in accidents that were relatively harmless but nevertheless compromised their schedules several times. And this time, the savant didn't wish to lose hundreds of millions of credits with a careless move on her own ship.
"-Ooooh, it'd be quite unfortunate if something happened to it, indeed... HA! Have no fear. THIS is something I've been waiting to get my hands on ever since I learned of its existence! And I do want to be onboard and FEEL it work!"
-Before you ask, no I haven't been able to understand how it even works. By all accounts, it violates so many laws of physics, space and time, that, if I were superstitious, I'd be surprised it hasn't caused some serious eldritch incidents already.
-Ha, who cares! It works and thus it'll do wonders to my curiosity!... And to the Ladnah, too! Still, why do YOU need it when you have your Iconian gateways?
-These can be counteracted in some ways just like the more basic transporter technology, but the spore drive works differently and thus can avoid certain counters. Always have a different backup.
-Aha! I love this way of thinking!"
Oh hey, another NCIS upload featuring another pairing! And a SFW pic at that, not featuring a giant busty Tak or a ginormously pregnant L'Miren.
Two scientists that pretty much everything opposes, but who work together as part of the vanguard against the VEIL galactic threat, and even go along relatively well despite their respective personalities.
