i dont know why....but in all honesty....i cant look away from the great use of the colors. im assuming you used photoshop and my question is probably one you hear frequently, but just how in the world did you get that effect? is it one layer or several? i've been struggling to get my own photoshop fingers but each time i try i get worse and worse at it...the only thing i have to show for ever drawing anything into photoshop....is my icon here

and that took me 4 HOURS and 5 layers just to make it look the way it does....and it still isnt right to me. any tips or tutorials you might have would be a bigggggg help!
however, back to my original meaning to comment ^.^;
you did a great job on the colors and the layouts of the two characters is so cute, i love their expressions, really fun and playful feeling.

haha thank you so much <3 and I used several layers to create this effect. I had the lineart, which was black orignally, on top. then i had the base colors, which were much brighter, but i lowered the opacity. then on top of that i had a layer for the bright colors which i used the motion blur to get the effect for, and i had another layer for the night sky. theres also a layer for the shading, which is on the multiply setting.
so basically, just play around with layer, the motion blur, gradient tool, and mulitply setting and you got yourself a fun time :3

huh, i'll have to take these down into my "notebook of notes of art" XD because although i have been technically drawing anthros for a little over a few years (less than several though) im still trying to pick up new techniques...most of all- my tablet, which has been collecting dust since i bought the monster nearly 2 years ago >.<; so just learning a bit more here and there gets me inspired to use it more (the first time i used it in nearly two years was for my icon!).
thank you so much for the helpful insight/uses of how you make your effects. hopefully i'll find a way of incorporating them sometime and figure out my own little dance with the layers :3
take care

oh it helps a lot :) just have to take my time instead of rushing into projects like i always do and end up putting too much/not enough ink down or making the body/pose wrong...hopefully i'll start moving all my artwork into PSE4.0 (photoshop elements 4.0) at some point...just have to figure out how *rubs chin*
