This is the prototype for my upcoming "Build a Beastie" product range.
I got sick of sewing a couple of years ago, and it still drives me nuts, but there is so much fur fabric out there crying out to be made into wuzzy animals!
So this time round, I'll just make the patterns, and you can do your own sewing. :)
In order for this to work sensibly, there has to be a basic design which you can modify in certain ways (eg. change the colours, add wings and horns, etc). So this guy, who I named Wuff, is the basic quadruped canine design. Next will come feline and dragon ones, then we'll see what else people need.
There are a few changes to be made here, notably, I want the tops of the hind legs to come higher up the sides of the body. And, of course, this toy is too big. I want the standard one about 2/3 this size, about 30cm tall.
New features on this design since I last made a toy: the nose is a proper plug-on one rather than a triangle of felt, the feet take appropriate positions depending whether he's sitting or standing, there's the very fact that he can both sit and stand...
The next step is to put the pattern I made while constructing this guy into the computer and print it out again, then make another toy straight from that, to test that it works like it should.
