"One day the fennec went back to the place where he was raised, stood for a week and found out something that made him realize. This place called scottbluff Nebraska, where he was raised at, and being born in Denver, CO, life is different...."
Im sorry to the furs that live there, but I just came to realize recently, that the town is a S***Hole! Only reason I go visit once in a while is to see family and friends. And although the town hasn't changed the mentality has. The people are different, and a few things have gotten worse. Everytime I go there I always try to find things to do with friends, and 75% of the time we cant find crap to do, even with money. Im sorry but that town is for retired people and people who don't want to see change. Nearly 15 years I lived there I now had enough of it. I now know why I stuck my fennec butt to the internet during my Jr. High and pre-high school years, and now barely making up for those lost years...........
"The fennec, now living in his born city, looks back at the town, thinking about his past he sees his feral self, coming to the realization. After moving away from his town to the city, finding new friends, then going back to the town only to find out most of his real family changed, new things brought a pond. And now he feels out of place with his actual family, he see's the feral fennec, lost and alone..."

omg, i can relate, >.> im currently stuck in this stupid little town, close to no where, and its just a bunch of old people and druggies.It wouldnt seemso bad when you got here and look around but it bad, plus theres nothing to do.. =\ i just you could watch a movie or bowl... thats it.
And Even though we're fairly small down here, this city is #5 in the country for the most pregnant teens, also, we are the meth capital of the country. =\ a guy my mom met in the airport was investigating the biggest meth bust in US history. the bust was in new jersey, but he came here because this is where all the meth came from >.>
I hate it here and thats why i was so excited about the highschool out of district =\ And because there have been some crazy slashings at that school too!
*hugs*

Kinda sounds like the other town, if its not drugs or meth its wannbe gangstas, or etc. They'll been reports of barfights and stabbings ever since I moved here in Denver. Back in spring I came back and there was a drug checkpoint on the road to the Town o.O;
I hated jr and high school, I barely started going out when I got my first car in 11th grade, but those years dont count, My teen years were kinda bleh x.x;

hehehehe. oooh JJ, how differently we see beauty. i've lived in Scottsbluff longer than you have and it one of the best places i could ever live. i love the community so gosh darn much that i'm very sad to be moving in 2012.
i think it just depends on the people that you know--depending on the kind of person you are. PERIOD. only till after high school was i able to experience exactly what a community is a about. in the last three years, my experiences have been unforgetable.
first it's my friends, which are the best friend a person could ever have. are there are dozens of them to. not just my peers like Whitney, Heidi, William, Ben M, AJ, you, Kacy, Daniel, Kat, Javin, Trista, Josh, Joe, Brad, Ashley, Jay, Liz, Olivia, Angelica, etc. all who of which are like second family to me. ...but also all the kind friendly teachers and faculty that i've grown close to at Western Nebraska Community college and all the sincere and caring people at the Unitarian Universalist Prairie Vista that i care so much for.
SERIOUSLY...READ ALL THIS THAT I'VE DONE HERE IN DINKY OL' SCOTTSBLUFF:
i've been apart of some amazing groups that i feel so fortunate to meet---the things i've done and the people i've met through the Panhandle Astronomy Club, Youth Advisory Board, Galaxy of Stars, Pelini's Jazz and Comedy Club, Barbershop Choir, Sugar Valley Ralley, Turtle Moon, GameTime, Memories of the Past, Guadaloupe Center, People Restoring Improving Dignity and Excellence (PRIDE), Scottsbluff County Democrats, Riverside Zoo Docent Program, United Leaders of Cultural Diversity, The Spectator Publications, Nebraska Young Democrats, National Night Out, The Underground, the Public Library Children's Summer Reading Program, the Public Arts Center, the Midwest Theatre, the Film Festival, Theatre Opportunity for Youth, Midwest Children's Theatre, WNCC Theatre West Music and Theatre, Sylvan Learning Center Internship, Street Outreach Services, Homeless Youth Shelter, Mentoring Program for Disabled Youth, Safe Zone, the.....

i started this as just a little voucher for the town, but now i think about it....
JJ, Scottsbluff is one of the most active communities you'll ever have had the opportunity to live in. some of the best of years i've ever had in my life have been here and no one can say otherwise to me.
i guess your post is kind of the straw that broke the camels back. i love Scottsbluff. if what you call a 'good town' is a place where you can party every night, hookah or whatever--it's probably not for you.
but i am standing up for my town this time. this same ol' song and dance that i've heard a million times from people our age just doesn't work. Scottsbluff is beautiful. and i'm sorry that you couldn't see that. this is my home, my hometown and my memories will always make a special place for it in my heart.
amen brother~

Im happy that you found your place there, I didnt, we both were born in different places, like I say my story is
"A fennec born in the wild (Denver) all of a sudden put into a house at age 5 (Scottsbluff) then tossed back into the wild at 18." not that I was throw out but thats what I say as to when I moved here for college.
Our perspectives are different, im not so much into the community thing. Only thing I got into was the teen dances, hence how I got my nickname (which has been long retired). I found my second family coming to my first furmeet in CO. Then I got involved with the local Furry community here in Denver, and I love it.
Everything kinda went blah after my first best friend left the state, we used to be neighbors, then after 8th grade I secluded myself in my home with the internet and video games. Then I got my car and hey! I had fun, met rudy and his gang and hung out alot. Then furry was apond me, then college, yea...
It took me till now to realized that to me there aint crud to do in that town, the countless amounts of times me, rudy and the gang failed. I only return for 2 reasons, thats it.
Im now making up for some of the years I spent rping on the internet during my early teens, I dont regret it but I feel I didnt get the "full experience" Basically to me I saw everything in that town, and the fact that it took 15 minutes to drive around the entire town (Yes, we were THAT bored that we timed how long that drive was)
Like I said, different perspectives, you have place there even though you'll be leaving in a few years. I found mine here in denver

Home is where the heart is, and at least that is a phrase t o describe. I may live in the Big Apple, but I cannot wait to say that CO and Denver is home. There is only a small group of friends that I have that I can really say are friends. The others here, just sort of leave me in the dust.
When I went to my first furmeet over there, I was so amazed at the warm and inviting feeling that was in the air. That even though I was the stranger from NYC, it was like I was there before. Heck, my furry brother lives in the West Coast anyway; will be nice to be within 8 hours. -- Seriously, the CO community is nothing short of amazing and as soon as I had to leave CO to go back "home," everything just kind of sucked again.
I am definitely lucky for the handful of friends I have here and for my music, for without it, I'd be completely left to my thoughts and be in despair. I cannot wait till I can call co home as well.
Take Care
