He only ever wanted to live a life of peace. He'd settled with the mice, the gerbil swiftly finding acceptance among them.
But she had other plans...
She captured them. Made examples out of them, gobbling one after the other, letting the village of rodents watch on above, whilst she loomed above, mocking them. Diego tried to defy her, but found himself plucked from the ground and hurled into their storehouse for his troubles...
Smashing her lantern against the wall, she poured the oil out over the village and the rodents trapped within it. Next came the match, which she tossed freely at them, looking to burn them all alive, without any hope of escape.
The ones left behind all died. Save for that one gerbil. A promise was made that day. He would see them avenged, or fall trying to do so.
The Treasure Hunter had died. The Giant Hunter was born.
