I see where you're coming from, but I don't think it'd be befitting of such a style! It kinda makes his head look like a turnip, no offense XDD
There ARE some ways to make it work though. The anime/manga Kaiji, for example, uses a lot of straight lines in its drawing style, as well as the characters having exaggerated features all around (Kaiji himself even has a very pointy chin and nose, haha.)
The reason it wouldn't work here, I think, is because you initially attempted to work a more realistic look onto the characters (which you did very nicely at!) and trying to work a stylistic technique in there without it matching the rest of the drawing, something like that simply doesn't work.
That's not to say it ruins the piece or anything, you did very nicely, but it does stick out quite a bit. Still, you're better than most! It's always great to see new submissions from you!
